You are cordially invited to attend the Sixth Annual Symposium on Gifted Education: Reading is Reading Everywhere, K-12 at Hollywood High School. This event is in collaboration with Los Angeles Unified School District Gifted/Talented Programs and the USC Rossier School of Education.

Dr. Sandra Kaplan, keynote speaker, is introducing her NEW Prompts of Depth and Complexity with applications to the Common Core State Standards. Shortly, you will receive instructional magnets of the new prompts. Morning breakout sessions will be tiered by grade level on the topic of: You are Never Too Old for a Good Story: Using “Text” Across Disciplines, K-12.

Parking is limited on the Hollywood High School campus. Recommended campus parking in front of library; Enter from Highland Avenue.

Participants are strongly encouraged to take the Red Line Metro to the event. Overflow parking will be at Selma Ave. Elementary School.

10:15-11:45 am Overview of Textual Analysis (Tiered by Grade Level)

11:45 am-12:45 pm Lunch (food trucks available or walk to surrounding eateries)

12:55-1:55 pm Interactive Topic Session 1

2:00-3:00 pm Interactive Topic Session 2
