Cordelia Hills Update

4/29/2019

Message from the Principal

Last week, we twice had students dart into traffic away from a crosswalk. Please continue to remind your students to use the available crosswalks. I know it seems inconvenient at times but it really is the best tool we have to keep students safe when crossing the street. Your support is greatly appreciated.

State Testing starts today. We start with 4th grade today, Monday, April 29th and the rest of the grades follow suit over the next two weeks. It is REALLY important that you have your student here each day and that they stay for the entire day. If you have a unique need, please communicate with the teacher early.

District Calendar: The 2019-2020 calendar is out. Check it out here. Please do your best to plan vacations, appointments, times away from school around the school calendar. We need every student here everyday that they are healthy.

Bike Rodeo

When: Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 30

Where: Cordelia Hills Playground Blacktop

What: Students will learn bike and safety skills on fun training courses.

Various agility courses are set up on school grounds to practice the skills necessary to ride a bike safely and confidently. In addition, bikes are inspected and bike helmets are checked for proper fit.

TK-5 students must be able to ride a bike without assistance to participate.

Students should bring their own bike and helmet, but bikes and helmets will be provided, if needed. Bike Rodeos will last about 1-2 hours and require 6-10 volunteers.

If you are INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING, please email me asap! Thanks to the two parents who have emailed me already!

CAASPP TESTING, Grades 3-5

CAASPP is a California State Summative Assessment for all students starting in 3rd grade. Students test in English-Language Arts and Math. 5th grade students are also assessed in science. PLEASE AVOID HAVING YOUR STUDENT OUT OF SCHOOL during the testing dates. The opportunity to focus and test with the class is imperative to their success.
