Resources, events, and ideas...
Willard School Library
Our library is here to support staff and students in meeting educational goals. This weekly newsletter will update you on new resources and ideas that are available physically and digitally. This first edition is longer in order to update you on changes and remind you of how to access information.
Big 6 - Use of Information
December is all about using the information that is found in various resorces. We will talk about how to take notes, avoid plagairism, and even how to correctly find imageson the internet. All classeshave already been signed up for their lesson. Thank You!!
Hour of Code 2015 - WORLDWIDE
Hour of Code
Hour of Code week is officially this week. Because all students have been enrolled in Code Studio and are regularly participating in coding I did not create a special schedule for the week. Students will be given the choice of doing Code Studio or some of the special Hour of Code activities in the next few weeks.
Mentor Texts
Many of you are using Lucy Calkins. Please let me know if there are mentor texts that you need. If you need some that we do not have then I can see about getting them from other libraries or ordering them fornext year. Please be aware that what Lucy has or recommends isn't always even in print anymore but we can try to find another comparable text.
Information???
As your students start informational writing and research please have them use sources that are grade level appropriate and trustworthy. Even using SafeSearch or KidRex doesn't guarantee that the text is accessible. By using websites through Destiny students can narrow down to an appropriate reading level and be assured that the content is good. In addition wehave PebbleGo, MARVEL, and our science databases. I would be happy to help you or your students find appropriate resources.
