October 24 – 2nd Grade and 4th Grade
October 25 – 1st Grade and 5th Grade
Colonial Day, November 16, will be here before we know it! We will need lots of help to make this a great event. While this particular activity is for the 5th graders, we encourage parents from all grade levels to help out. It is a great way to get a sneak peek at one of the special events your student will get to experience in 5th grade. Be on the lookout for sign-up links in upcoming newsletters or contact Tracy at tracy.b.reynolds@gmail.com for additional information.
Many of our K-2nd grade homerooms are still looking for parent readers. If you have a student in one of these grade levels and are interested in being a parent reader, please reach out to your HRC. It is a lot of fun, gives the teacher a little break, and the kids love it!
Love ART? We have lots of volunteer opportunities! Ms. Krengel is asking for assistance during the 2nd grade art classes. Click the link to sign up and help our students grow their love of art Help with 2nd Grade Art Sign-Up
Ms. Krengel still needs a few volunteers to help kids paint veterans’ day rocks on 10/25, 10/26, 10/30 and 10/31. Volunteers will help handing out paint, rocks, paint brushes, etc. When completed, all of the painted rocks will be displayed in the school atrium. If you have some free time and would like to come help the kids show their artistic skills she would really appreciate it! Veterans' Day Rock Painting Sign-Up If you want to help out and the sign-up is full, please contact Alejandra at aleenjay@gmail.com – we always need extra help!
And finally, Ms. Krengel is asking for parents to donate some art supplies. Click on the link to see what you can bring to help support our kids’ love of art! Art Supply Sign-Up

Colonial Day by Tracy Reynolds
Colonial Day is quickly approaching on November 16,2018. We are organizing volunteers different this year. We are getting chairpersons first and then going to get all the other volunteers. We have all the chairs filled , but three positions. The three positions we need filled are 1. QUILTING 2. CANDLEMAKING 3. Food.
Quilting is mainly threading a needling and showing the kids how to do a simple up and down stitch. This is a great station to have a lot of help from grandparents.
Candle making is showing the kids how they made candles. The students will dip wicks in wax and create their own candle.
Food : The kids get to sample items from similiar to the colonial era and make homemade butter.
We have information and some of the supplies already to help you. Please consider helping chair a station for Colonial Day. If you can chair a station please email tracy.b.reynolds@gmail.com and include what station you can by Thursday October 18,2018.
The kids really have fun and learn a lot on Colonial Day. If you can't chair a station , but still want to help be on the lookout for a signup genius for helping on Colonial day. Also next week we will send out another signup genius for food and supplies needed for the day
