Weekly RAM Newsletter

From the desk of Principal Mills - Sunday, September 26th, 2021

Happy Sunday, Ram Families!

I hope this week's newsletter finds you well and enjoying the change in our weather - it's been nice to get a little break from the blazing-hot TPMS basketball court blacktop at lunchtime! This week also marks the transition from September to October, and our Parent-Teacher conference week halfway through the first quarter. We hope that you get a chance to connect with your student's teachers this week if you have concerns about your students' progress; please email your student's teachers directly to set up a time to meet.

Please remember that there is no school for students on Monday, September 27th due to a teacher professional development day. Classes will resume on Tuesday with minimum day schedules Tuesday thru Friday to provide time for our Parent-Teacher conferences taking place this week. If you have questions about start and end times this week, please CLICK HERE to see our bell schedules on the TPMS website.

Thanks to all of our parents who attended the TPMS Foundation Fall Social at Second Chance Brewery this past Friday, September 24th. This was a great way to end the week and to meet some of our parents, while enjoying some tasty food, amazing people and great beer! A big THANK YOU to our TPMS Foundation Board for all of their work in making the event happen, and to all of our parents that have donated to the Foundation to help support our students and campus.

Finally this week, please make sure to turn in your PTSA membership form if you haven't done so already. Our PTSA sponsors multiple programs and events throughout the school year, and your membership dues, donations, and participation in supporting these programs is vital for their continued success. Please CLICK HERE to access PTSA membership information or see the section "PTSA Appreciates Your Support" below.

K-12 Annual Calendar Contest

The San Diego County Air Pollution Control District’s (APCD) Annual Kids Calendar Contest has begun! We invite students in grades K-12 to enter the contest. We are accepting submissions from now until Friday, November 19, 2021.

Entries may be submitted by mail and this year we have added the option of submitting entries via email. Emailed entries must not exceed 10 mb in size. To enter the contest, submit original artwork along with the entry form available on our website: Additional contest information is also available on our website including the contest rules and how to submit your entry.

At the APCD, our mission is to improve air quality to protect public health and the environment. While we are working hard every day to reduce air pollution in San Diego County, we realize we cannot do this alone and need the help of students. We want to encourage you to think about the importance of clean, breathable air and help spread the word about what the average person can do to help us all breathe a little easier. As such, with your help, we will be creating a 2022 calendar where each month will showcase your air quality artwork. The calendar art will be chosen in a contest where the 13 most creative designs (1 for the cover and 1 for each month) are selected from student entries for grades K through 12.

The artwork must demonstrate ways to reduce air pollution and may include a clean air message. Also, the APCD website will have a gallery of all the submissions. The contest begins immediately, and all submissions must be postmarked by Friday, November 19, 2021.

The entry form can be found on our website here:

National PTSA Reflections Contest

The PTSA is putting on its annual Reflections Art Contest and we are calling all of our artists, dancers, writers, film producers, and music composers to enter! This year's Reflections theme is "I Can Change the World By..." and students who want to enter can find entry forms with instructions and contest rules through your RAM teachers or by coming in the office to pick up an entry form. More information will be linked to our web page and social media in the coming days. Entries are due October 18th.
