Campaign Update and Construction Progress Report
Construction Update
Progress continues on the playground elements begun in October. Our original completion date for this work was pushed back due to some challenges with grading and drainage which came up and required plan modifications and unanticipated additional ground work. We are now aiming to open the area after Christmas break with the playground, fitness area and extended blacktop area (prepped for the sport court) completed. The installation of fencing for the sport court and the sport court surfacing are now slated for spring completion when the weather cooperates and we’ve raised additional funds.
How does the Idaho Education Tax Credit work?
This short animated video explains how you can put money you have to pay as taxes into North Star instead of tax coffers. But don't delay, donations must be made by the end of December in order to use on your 2017 taxes!
It’s a win-win! Please consider taking advantage of this amazing opportunity!
Keeping our Momentum Going!
We are asking for your support to continue the momentum for this campaign. You should have received a donation request letter in the mail a couple weeks ago. Please consider making a donation today to support our goal of completing Phase I and Phase II. The remaining components of Phase I are the sport court, outdoor classroom, elementary courtyard and new plaza area entrance. Phase II includes a much needed new drop-off and pick-up location with additional parking.
We've made great progress, but we still need your ongoing and continued support!
The kids love watching the progress!

The development of our field to include a sports complex, expanded playground,
and new drop-off and pick-up area has the potential for a dramatic effect on our school.
Providing these state-of-the-art facilities will add an important dimension and wholeness to the education we offer as well as serve to attract and retainthe best teachers and students.”

Why Do We Need Your Support?
As a charter school, we do receive public funding. However, on average we receive about 22% less funding per pupil than the public district schools. Charter schools are also not able to raise additional funds through local bonds and levies for capital projects. This puts us at a significant disadvantage for critical capital needs and we must raise our own support. We are seeking support from multiple constituencies such as foundations and corporations for this project. But our most invested and biggest benefactor is you, our current families. This year, we are aiming for 100% parent participation. Your support shows a collective commitment to our school and speaks volumes to potential major donors.
Thank You To the Kids!
We know how excited our students are to explore our new playground and fitness area and want to extend a huge thank you to them for their patience during this process.
We can't wait to hear their laughter and see their smiles when the new elements are completed!
