A Word from the Office.....
NEW YEAR REMINDERS

Your child's attendance in school is very important! If they are not in school they will not be participating or have the materials they need to achieve their goals in a timely manner. Each part of our day is carefully planned and is important to your child's development. Please make sure your child does not miss out on classroom opportunities by making sure they are here and that they are ON TIME! If you do need to report an absence or have questions please call or email our Attendance Office at 563-285-3197 or email:jackie.oetzmann@north-scott.k12.ia.us
Connect with Staff
Together, we are better! It helps so much if you communicate with us about things that are important to you! We strive to connect with parents/guardians on how we can help improve the lives of our students. So please do not hesitate to ask if there is something you need from us. Please complete the form below with any questions, concerns or recommendations that you may have.

Message from the Nurse
Thank you for providing your student with face masks and a clear water bottle. Just a reminder that with cold and flu season approaching amidst a pandemic, it is important to make sure face masks and water bottles are routinely cleaned. We are so grateful for your support with covid mitigation efforts. With the new year upon us, we need to fight through "Covid Fatigue" and continue with the Covid mitigation efforts of social distancing, washing our hands, wearing our masks and avoiding crowds. Thank you for all you do to keep your families healthy and allowing our students to remain in school during this pandemic.

Update from the District
Families
Each week we will be providing our current data on COVID-19 cases and quarantines in the district. Each week we will be providing our current data on COVID-19 cases and quarantines in the district via email.
The State Health Department has issued new guidelines for quarantines. Face shields and single layer gaiters are not considered face coverings for the new requirement. Students and staff can continue to wear face shields and gaiter, but these individuals and those within 6 feet of them for 15 minutes or more will be subject to quarantine. IDPH and the district are still recommending 6-foot social distancing in addition to the masking as layers of protection along with all other CDC recommendations. Please note, Scott County is continuing to see widespread community transmission of COVID-19, with our 14-day trendline in cases continuing to rise. The impact of this change in guidance will be closely monitored, and changes may become necessary. We encourage you to continue to work to limit risk within the school setting, including a requirement for masking and social distancing to the maximum extent possible.
2 hour early out schedule every Friday will continue until Spring Break on Friday, March 12th 2021. (This applies to all North Scott Schools) This time will be used for our teachers to prepare to meet the needs of all our students including students who are quarantined.
Students who are quarantined and healthy are expected to continue engaging in their education by viewing videos and lessons sent home and completing all assignments. Our teachers are continuing to improve the quality of education being provided to students at home in quarantine, and it is critical that students continue learning if healthy and able to do so. We want to avoid academic gaps as much as possible so student engagement during quarantine is essential.
Recent updates from IDPH When to Quarantine
We are looking for substitute teachers for the 2020-21 school year. If you have an associate’s degree or a bachelor's degree, you can become a substitute by completing a Substitute Authorization Course. Courses are being offered through Eastern Iowa Community Colleges as our Area Education Agency. If interested, please contact Deana Sorenson at our central office for more information (deana.sorenson@north-scott.k12.ia.us).
North Scott Health and Safety Plan: COVID-19

Social distance whenever possible
Wash our hands
Stay home if you are not feeling well
