Mission Statement
The Eucharistic community of Saint Paschal Baylon Catholic School
focuses on Christ-centered values and develops the unique potential of each student
through a rigorous and engaging curriculum.
A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Families,
It seems as if we are all getting into the groove of distance learning. I had the chance to sit in on some Zoom meetings with classes which has been wonderful! It is so great to see our students' smiling faces and to hear their giggles. Thank goodness that we have this technology available to us so that we can still feel connected. Our teachers continue to make adjustments just as our families are doing in order to make this learning transition as smooth as possible. Please look for a survey from your child’s teacher in a separate email, and you are asked to complete it by Friday, March 27 by 5:00 p.m. You will receive one for each child in K-8. We will send one for our preschool families next week. Thank you for sharing feedback yet being patient and understanding as we put things in place.
One question that I have been asked multiple times is whether this closure will extend through the end of the year. At this time, I still do not know. My thinking is that it will be based on hints from the governor, but nothing has been confirmed by him. When I have this information, be assured that I will share it with you in a timely manner.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Our distance learning will be extended into Holy Week, April 6-9. We will not return to school on April 6.
- Our Easter break will remain as scheduled for April 10-17. The earliest we would return to school would be Monday, April 20; however, that remains a tentative date based on future mandates by the governor.
Third quarter report cards have been published as of today. You have the ability to print a report card to keep for yourself. Please note that there are two pages to the report card. You may access your child’s final grades for the quarter on Gradelink following these directions:
1. Log into Gradelink.
2. Click on the Grades tab on the left hand side.
3. The option to download the report card will appear on the right side of the screen. You
can then download it to view or print.
Let us continue to pray for all those affected by COVID-19 and let us pray for the medical professionals who are examples of compassion and strength in caring for those in need. Please know that all of you are in my daily prayers.
Sincerely,
Diane Raguz, Principal

As we travel through these uncharted waters together I would like to provide some helpful information. Over these next few weeks I will try to share some tips which may be useful. If you would like specific information regarding your child please feel free to email me, Linda Page, at lpage@saintpaschal.com
Children & teens often react to what they see from adults around them. It is important to deal with this virus and quarantine calmly and confidently in order to support our children.
- Take time to talk with your child about the COVID-19 outbreak. Answer questions and share facts in a way your child will understand. This will vary by age of your child.
- Reassure your child that they are safe. Closing schools and quarantine are ways to protect them. Let them know that it’s okay to feel upset and be open to talking with them. Share with them how you deal with your own stress
- Limit exposure to news and even social media. Children may misinterpret what they hear and can be frightened about things they don’t understand
- Try to keep regular routines. Create a schedule for online learning or fun activities.
- Be a role model. Take breaks, get plenty of sleep, and eat well. Connect with outside family and friends by phone or online. Be careful what you might say, even jokingly, about having your children at home.
- Try to find something positive every day.

Primary Grades Parents/Guardians-We Need You!
The links for April for Grade 1 and May for Kindergarten can be found below.
We are asking that each family (mom, dad, grandma, etc.) choose at least two days to volunteer each time slot being 11:00-1:00. There are many, many time slots open! We are so grateful for the help!
This is a great way for you to interact with your child and his/her classmates during the school day! Lunch/Recess Volunteers should arrive to school at 11:00 and check in at the office. Duties will include supervising students at recess, escorting students to the cafeteria from recess, and supervising in the cafeteria. Volunteers will be with one teacher and two "core" volunteers each day to help direct. Remember that after your two volunteer time slots, you are done for the year, as each month is assigned to a different grade.
Thank you again for your time and service to the students and teachers of SPB! Simply click on the grade level link to pick a time convenient for you Grade 1, Kindergarten.
Summer Solutions Ordering Portal Now Open!
Summer learning loss puts students at a serious disadvantage. This is when skills and knowledge are lost over the summer months, causing students to move backwards instead of progressing. By spending just minutes a day with Summer Solutions, students get the practice they need to keep moving forward. It was designed to help students return to school after summer break confident in the skills they’ve already learned and ready to master new ones. Your child worked hard all year. Make sure that progress sticks. Give your child the advantage of Summer Solutions. Click here to order your child's Summer Solutions books for delivery directly to your home!

Spring Fling UPDATE!
Just a sad note - We will STILL HAVE the RAFFLE for Spring Fling, but the rest of the parish festival has to be cancelled due to the planning and realities of getting this ready for May. We do not know how this is going to play out. Too many unknowns. While we are hoping for a return to normal from this trying time, where many places are still locked down, we just didn't want to take that risk and loss. As it is, we will have to pay the bands, unless they are good enough to release us from their contracts. So keep selling the tickets: we will have the drawing as planned, Sunday, May 17, 5:30 p.m. We will have weekly drawings - so get your tickets in early!
