The early cities in Sumer date back to 3500 B.C.E. The first cities were very small and independent. Come visit us in Eridu and walk through the ancient ruins. After you can make pottery, which is what they were known for.


The first Akkadian cities were founded 2300 B.C.E.The Akkadians were known for their three-dimensional sculptures. When you visit Akkad, you will see the Victory Stele, a sculpture of King Naram-Sin above his army.


The Babylonian Empire dates back to 1750 B.C.E. Come see the real Hammurabi's Code when you come visit us in Babylon. After visiting Hammurabi's famous stele you can come see the remains of the Ishtar Gate.


Assyria dates back to 650 B.C.E. Syrian craft people were known for their 2-D sculptures called bas-reliefs. When you come to Assyria you can visit some of the most famous bas-reliefs such as, the winged bull with five legs, which sits in front of the palace of the Assyrian king.


The very first cities were created in 600 B.C.E. The Babylonians were very smart, they made the first sun dial. While in Babylon you can visit the 7-story-high ziggurat which Nebchadrezzar rebuilt in 605 B.C.E.
