Prestwick Service Project October 2015

Oct. 19th- 30th

LEISD canned food drive- Help us make a REAL difference by donating non-perishable food items. All items are donated to the Little Elm food bank and support local families. Schools across LEISD compete and we hope to come out on top!

Send in items with your child any time during this 2 week window.

Winning campus will be recognized and possibly receive a top prize from Dr. Strike, Superintendent of LEISD.

Experts in our Classroom

Do you work in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) field? We would love to add you to our internal list of experts that could be invited to speak in or be a live audience for the presentation of our projects that we develop with Project Based learning. We welcome a variety of careers. One of our chief goals at Prestwick is for all learning to be meaningful, relevant and authentic. Your participation in any of these capacities is always welcome.

To have your information added to an internal directory please email our counselor, Sandy Burrell at or by leaving her a message at 972-947-9450. Include your full name, career field, times you are available and the best contact information.

Attendance Matters

Attendance is very important for each child's learning. We are aiming to top last years attendance rate by maintaining 98% daily.

Thank you for your help in attaining our goal - Be sure when your child is absent to send a doctor's note via to the teacher or email to

We appreciate notes or emails when a family trip is taken; however, be aware that those absences will be counted as unexcused.

End of 1st nine weeks- Report Cards 10/23

Friday, Oct. 16th, 3:30pm

Prestwick STEM Academy

The end of the first nine weeks is Friday, Oct. 16th. Report cards will be sent home with your students on Thursday, Oct. 22nd. It is critical for students to finish strong by submitting high quality work in a timely manner.

We encourage you to celebrate their hard work and success. Also take time to set goals for both academic and responsibility growth in this upcoming nine weeks. We are holding students to a high standard in order to prepare them for future success. Facilitators, parents and students create a triad that when working together foster success. If you have questions regarding grades please contact your child's teacher. Grades for students in3rd-8th can be monitored via FOCUS.

Check your students Tuesday folder for Prestwick Fun Run details. Please remember to sponsor or allow your child to reach out to sponsors for donations. 100% earned by students will go towards funding our outdoor learning space!
