A Note From Our Principal
What an incredible start to the school year we are having! Our classroom communities are blooming, new friendships and learning are in full swing, and smiles abound! As always, thank you for sharing your children with us. They bring us so much happiness! As a staff, we feel so lucky to get to pour into their lives each and every day.
When I am out and about on campus, I am always on the look out for what I like to call "magical moments". Magical moments are just those sweet, precious moments in time that appear "little" but really can mean SO much. You'll often hear me saying, "The little things are the big things." As you partner with us this year and focus on the theme: "Be Present," make sure you stop and take time to enjoy magical moments with your children. Try not to shrug off the little things. After all, the little things ARE the big things.
Stay cool,
Mrs. Fadeji

CAINE's ARCADE CARDBOARD CHALLENGE
We’re just a few short weeks away from our Cardboard Challenge inspired by Caine’s Arcade! Our community build/playday is on September 4th. Click here for invitation and details. We’d love to have as many adult volunteers as possible. Also, students in grades 2-6 should be bringing home a letter in the next week with specific recycled building supplies that they think they need. Kindergarten and 1st grade will be bringing home a suggested list. If you don’t see this letter come home, be sure to have a family conversation about the project and brainstorm some ideas for supplies! Here is a list of common supplies that students need:
cardboard (flat or a box)
string
foil
duct tape
plastic bottles and/or bottle caps
egg cartons
toilet paper tubes
paper towel tubes
We’ll see you on September 4th. Thanks for your support!

What goes on at the PTA Meetings Anyway?
Thank you to everyone who attended the Friends of Penngrove PTA (FOPPTA) Association Meeting on Monday, July 29th. We had a record turnout! Here is a quick recap:
- Five students shared their student PTA experiences from last year. It was great to hear their perspective on the best parts of being an active student PTA member. Thank you to Evan Riley, Charlie Walton, Grace Dufour, Sonny Luna and Scarlette Peepe for speaking with us!
- The July to Jog-a-thon budget was reviewed and adopted.
- We heard updates from the Back to School Movie Night, Skate Night and Jog-a-thon committee.
- The new Penngrove PTA website (www.penngrovepta.org) was reviewed.
Join us on Monday, August 26th at 8:45 in the library for a student speaker presentation on Jog-a-thon, a review of the last fiscal year audit and updates from Mrs. Fadeji, Team Penn, the FOPPTA executive board and chairs.

Wondering about our fundraisers?
When our school community works together, we can really make things happen. This is evident with the Jog-a-thon, our annual school-wide fundraiser. Aside from a few smaller & more specific fundraisers, this is the only major school-wide fundraiser put on by Friends of Penngrove PTA. Check out what we were able to do with last year's Jog-A-Thon funds here.
Sixth graders are also focused on fundraisers - and for good reason! We work as a #pennvillage to ensure that every sixth grader can attend Outdoor Ed Camp! This team hosts several fundraisers throughout the year to meet their goal. Each new class decides how they will do it. Some of the annual favorites are Accordion Festival (this weekend! - see above), Tri Tip BBQ, and Ice Cream Sales. We're excited to hear more about what this year's class has in store!
Following are some of the reasons the sixth grade raises funds:
- Contribution to the spookiest haunted house in town!
- End of the year field trip
- Camp!
- Gift to the school
- Class Swag
- Promotion ceremony
