Washington April Update
Washington Elementary School - Home of the Golden Eagles
Art Club Paints New Mural
Mr. Mane and the 5th grade Art Club just finished the new mural in the cafeteria! The students started the mural back in January and slowly worked on it every two weeks. Each 5th grader first helped prime over the wall, then Mr. Mane sketched out the "Golden Eagle" design for the students to fill in. They started by filling in the large blue background, then moved on to the light blue ribbon. Following that they painted the golden eagles and the letters. The final part was to paint the black outline around the images and words. The last step was for Mr. Mane to add in the shadows and the highlights throughout the whole mural.
The whole process took about four months and was funded by the Washington student council. The kids were excited to make this happen and to leave a positive lasting impact here at Washington before they head off to middle school!

'Children are born with wings. Teachers help them fly.' - Shelby Stollery.
Teaching has been the most meaningful career I could have had, and I did have!
It has been a joy to teach our eaglets for the past two and a half decades. I taught a lot. I learned a lot. We made some amazing memories. We made some great friendships. I have a special forever place in my heart just for my students. Fly, Eagle, Fly."
"He estado enseñando en Washington Elementary durante 26 años. Mi número total de años enseñando es 38.
'Los niños nacen con alas. Los maestros los ayudan a volar'. - Stollery Shelby.

From Mrs. Alvarado....
"I have worked in our cafeteria for 9 years. I love Washington School and the staff. I loved watching the kids grow through the years and it was a bonus to watch my granddaughters come through our kitchen. I enjoy the kids with their jokes, dancing, and remarks at my window. I will cherish the memories with my Washington Eagles family."
