Rebuilding Gingerbread Town!
Students reviewed community and economic standards during a project to rebuild "Gingerbread Town!" I am so proud of their creativity and collaboration!

A culture survey was sent home today. Over winter break, please discuss the questions with your child and help them to complete the form. Please return the survey on Wednesday, January 7th. Thank you for your help with this project!

Important Information for the week after Winter Break!
Homework
Students will be given their next set of Words Their Way spelling words and Vocabulary words on Tuesday, January 6th. The normal (week 1) homework schedule will resume. Our next Word Study and Vocabulary quiz will be Friday, January 16th.

We are Learning...
Reading: We will continue to study nonfiction texts. We will be learning how to gather information from informational texts so that we can become experts on a topic. We will be comparing and contrasting different books on the same topic as we read.
Math: We will begin our new topic on subtraction to 100 with and without regrouping.
Writing: We will begin a new unit on nonfiction writing texts. Students will understand the structure of explanatory and informational texts. They will learn how to write so that they can teach others.
Science: We will begin a new topic on states of matter. Students will be studying the properties of liquids and gases.
