Mental Health Association of Monmouth County Parent Workbook

The Two River School Coalition and Mental Health Association of Monmouth County collaborated this fall to develop a Parent Workbook based on feedback collected by local school officials over the past year. The booklet was designed to provide parents with information/tools that can assist them in helping their child. Topics covered in the booklet include:

  • Is there anything I can do if my child refuses to go to school?
  • My child seems to be having increased anxiety, what is the best way to help them?
  • How do I know when I need to seek professional help for my child?
  • What do I do when I need a little bit of extra help for my child?

The link to the booklet can be found here . If you need any additional information, please let me know.

Civic Leadership Presentation

On December 21st during 9th period, a speaker from Minding Your Minds will be here to speak about his experience with his own suicidal ideations, anxiety, and depression.

"Entering his senior year at Muhlenberg College, Andrew was a starting defensive back for the football team, named captain of the track and field team, and already had a full-time position upon graduation with a large accounting firm in Philadelphia. However, an injury in the first game of the season and increasing pressure to perform caused drastic changes for him. Andrew lost his identity and began deeply struggling. His issues started with insomnia with trouble concentrating in class and on the field. This led him to spiral into a deep, lonely hole. Andrew hid his struggles from family and friends as he pretended that everything was fine until he experienced suicidal ideations and reached a point where he desperately needed help."

The speaker will talk to our students to help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues, and continues to help others who may also be suffering to know that they are not alone and it does get better.
