Thank you to our 6th Graders for Recycling for us!

Thank you for recycling during this school year. Your efforts have helped fill over 30 large bags of recyclable plastics that have been taken to the recycling center. Without your help those plastic bottles would have been added to the trash.

According to recycling.about.com it takes up to 500 years to decompose plastic items in landfills. Additionally, plastic that ends up in the environment breaks down into tiny particles and pollutes our soil and water.

FROM THE SCHOOL NURSE

Dear Parent,

If your child has brought in any medication to the nurse’s office this past year, please come in to pick it up on Tuesday May 24th or Wednesday May 25th during school hours. Any medication not picked up will be discarded. NO medication will be sent home with a child. If you have any question please contact me at 376-4426. Have a great summer!

Sincerely,

Kelly Stephens, LPN

School Nurse

PLEASE WELCOME NEW SOUTHSIDE STAFF MEMBER - Allison Stidam - 5th Grade AC

I am a graduate of Indiana University (Go Hoosiers!) with a degree in Elementary Education. My husband, Brad, and I just celebrated our 14th anniversary last week, our daughter, Lillia, will be in 7th grade at Central Middle School next year, our son, Asher will be in 2nd grade at Southside, and our two cats will remain as lazy as ever refusing to pull their weight at home. In addition to teaching and working with kids, I enjoy playing golf, reading, and spending time with my family.

I came to Southside last fall as the Teacher's Assistant for TEAM and AC. I was thrilled at the opportunity to work with the AC program, as it is very near and dear to my heart. I have been an AC student myself, beginning in 3rd grade at Richards Elementary, an AC parent (my daughter is currently in 6th grade AC here at Southside), an AC Teacher's Assistant, and, through a rather unexpected chain of events, a 6th grade AC Teacher since the beginning of February. Now my journey takes me to 5th grade AC for the upcoming school year, and I look forward to it with great anticipation of all the amazing experiences to come. I'm privileged to be able to continue working with these phenomenal students, in such a wonderful school building, and with an amazing community of parents.

PLEASE WELCOME NEW SOUTHSIDE STAFF MEMBER - Allison White - 6th Gr AC
