COLLEGE & CAREER UPDATE
For juniors with at least a 2.5 GPA; Boeing is taking applications for a 3 year internship program that guarantees a full-time job with their company at the end. There is a gal who graduated from here about 5 years ago and she is clearing $36.00 per hour! Here is a link: http://www.iam-boeing.com/career-prep.shtml
Immediately tied to this: Boeing is sending a small group to do a presentation during our Tutorial session on Thursday, February 14th. Students must register in advance. Here is where the registration is located on our website: https://www.gresham.k12.or.us/Page/4147 (Note: Students and parents may go to this same location to register for the next two events as well.)
The next event is Trades Night on Tuesday, February 26th in the cafeteria between 6:00 - 8:00 pm. We will have various folks who are actually building both GHS and SBHS. They will be sharing about the training they have received, how it has helped them, and what they wish they knew ahead of time. Further, there will be displays from many entities that offer voc-tech training in automotive, manufacturing, and construction. The important aspect we are emphasizing is that these are highly skilled jobs that pay wages people can actually live on.
