MGES Student of the Month
Congratulations to Campbell North! He's Maple Glen Student of the Month!
Dear families,
In 2018, the state of Indiana passed a law requiring all public, charter, and accredited private schools to provide child abuse prevention education to students in kindergarten through 12th grades. We are proud to continue our partnership with Indiana Prevention. Think First and Stay Safe and Teen Lures (formerly known as Body Safety) are comprehensive body safety education programs that teach children in grades K-12 ways to keep their bodies safe. The children will learn appropriate ways to prevent, respond to, and report situations such as bullying, cyber-bullying, and all forms of abuse or neglect.
The program will be presented to children at Maple Glen during the week of March 4, 2024. Each presentation will be given in individual classrooms and will last approximately 45 minutes. This evidence-based program provides basic abuse prevention education to students. Students will learn anatomically correct names for private body parts, basic body safety rules, how to recognize common tactics – or lures – abusers use to manipulate their victims and be encouraged to talk to their trusted adults if they have a safety concern. It is essential that we empower our children with knowledge and tools to protect themselves from potential harm.
Although not required, each child's attendance in the program is strongly recommended. For additional information regarding our programs please visit our website at: www.indianaprevention.org You can view a parent presentation on this page at https://www.indianaprevention.org/parentresources.
If you would NOT like your child to participate in this programming, please fill out this form and return to Mrs. Newman by Friday, March 1st.
For additional information regarding our programs or to participate in an adult education prevention course, please visit our website at www.indianaprevention.org. You can also contact Megan Banet at megan@indianaprevention.org or 317-759-8008 with questions or concerns.
Thank you for your partnership in our efforts to keep the children of our community safe!

Carnival Volunteer Sign-Up
Who is ready to help make our Carnival be the best MGES has ever seen? In order to make this a successful event, we need A LOT of volunteers. The Carnival is Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm. The first volunteer shift starts at 5:30 to give you a chance to learn your role and be prepared for our first wave of families. The majority of the volunteers are needed to help the kids play our carnival themed games in the gym. At the games, each kiddo will earn coins to redeem in the Prize Room.

Attendance
Please do this even if you let your child's classroom teacher know about the absence. This will ensure that our attendance secretary receives the information.
Dismissal Changes
If you have a dismissal change, please let the front office know by 1:00pm. This gives the office enough time to notify your child is where they’re supposed to be at the end of the day! Please DO NOT leave dismissal changes on the attendance line.
