Updates/Reminders
- We have had a number of students lose or believe that someone has taken their toys and/or pokemon cards. If this is an issue for your child, I would strongly suggest that those items are left at home. We will do our best to help students recover their items, but we are not always successful at doing so.
- Please be mindful of what your students wear to school on days when they have art and gym. We have a number of students refusing to participate in gym because they don't want to mess up their sneakers. We also have younger friends messing up their clothes during art. Feel free to send in old, oversize t shirts that can used as smocks. :-)

Students are beginning to check-out books in our school library! You will know if the book is from our library if there is a “New Castle Elementary” barcode on the back cover. They are allowed to borrow the book for one week, then return the book back to the library the day they have Library/Technology Exploratory. (For a reminder, you may check out the schedule below) Encourage students to read library books at home. Happy Reading!

Which One Doesn't Belong?
Which One Doesn't Belong (WODB) is a favorite math task amongst our New Castle Spartans! In this task, 4 related images are shown together. Then, the teacher asks "Which one doesn't belong?" and gives students time to think independently. Finally, students are asked to name which image doesn't belong and give their reason. Students are encouraged to find as many reasons as time allows.
Family Task and Discussion: Using the image below (shape 17), Which One Doesn't Belong and why? Make sure you explain your reason!
Check out the WODB website for more pictures!
Watch for the Facebook post on Wednesday to identify
Which One Doesn't Belong and share your reason!

If your child has been or is going to be absent for an upcoming appointment or any other reason, you can submit that information by clicking the button above.
Breakfast and Lunch are provided FREE OF CHARGE for all students!
Be mindful that even if your child brings breakfast and/or lunch with them, we CANNOT DENY students access to the meals that we have in school, so if you do not want them to eat a school breakfast/lunch or have concerns about the possibility of them eating a double lunch (the one that bring from home and what we offer in school) and ending up with a tummy ache, please have that conversation with your scholar. :-)
