Washington Early Learning Center

The Washington Eagles

Week of January 4th - January 8th, 2016

Happy New Year!

From the Eagle's Nest!

Dear Families,

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a enjoyable and relaxing Holiday Season!

As a reminder, PLEASE call the Washington office to report student absences as we are required to maintain accurate records for attendance. Please understand that we will make a call home if we do not hear from you.

Although EC or 4K are not mandatory grades, we will continue to monitor attendance (the same as they do for Kindergarten-12th) and will send out letters to those who we have concerns about. If you have any questions, please contact me at any time.

Thanks!
Mrs. Nelson

Please mark your calendars!

Upcoming Dates:

Monday, January 4, 2016: 3:30--PTO meeting (Washington & ACI parents are welcome!)

Friday, January 8: Child Find Screening at WELC

Friday, January 15: End 2nd Quarter; NO SCHOOL for EC & 4K!

Friday, January 29: NO SCHOOL (Staff Professional Learning Day)

Drop-off and Pick-up Safety

Please help us to maintain safety during drop-off and pick-up times by keeping the following in mind:

  • HOLD HANDS with your child while crossing the street! Please DO NOT allow your child to cross the street on his/her own!
  • HOLD HANDS with your child while in the parking lot! The parking lot is a very busy place with busses and cars coming and going.
  • DO NOT let your child out of the car to walk to the entrance door on his/her own!

Also, please remember that your son/daughter is a "big boy/girl" who is now attending school! We recommend that you allow your child to walk to the door, instead of being carried. They should also carry their own backpack! Remember, we are helping establish a school routine that will continue into Kindergarten and self-help skills are very important!

Thank you for your assistance in maintaining safety and making the transition to the school day a positive one!

Schwan's Cares Fundraiser

Do you, or someone you know, order from Schwan's home delivery?

Schwan’s makes it very easy for us all to enjoy over 350 delicious food and desserts that they provide. Your food will be delivered to you at your convenience; they even provide a freezer bag for you if you will not be home for the delivery (it will even keep your ice cream cold on a hot summer day). You will need to provide a credit card on your first order, however your card will not be charged until your food is delivered, so if you prefer to pay by another option you may do so at time of delivery.

The cool thing about using Schwan’s is that anyone can use our fundraiser ID number, anywhere in the USA, and we will get the donations! So once you are registered on Schwan’s, please share our fundraiser with all your Facebook, Twitter, email and other friends, family and neighbors! Help Washington’s PTO raise money in order for the PTO to continue to help pay for field trips and other fun activities.

Remember to enter our fundraiser number when ordering (ID 24820), and we earn a percentage of your order for our Washington PTO! The first 45 days of our campaign earns us a larger percentage, so please consider ordering early!

Catalogs are available in the office! If you would like one sent home with your child, please call the office or send a note with your child's teacher.

Absence Policy

If your child will be absent from school (Washington & ACI students), you will need to call Washington ELC at 751-6990 to inform us of this absence. If you call and need to leave a message, please leave the following information:

  • Child's name
  • Child's teacher
  • Reason for absence

We will record this information in our attendance system, and let your child's teacher know.

If you do not call the office, you should expect a call from us.

Please let us know if you have any specific questions!

Visitor Policy

We welcome visitors to our school! However, for the safety of all children and staff, we require all visitors to check-in and wear a visitor badge if they are in the building. Please remember that if you are in the building, staff members will be looking for your visitor badge! Thanks for your support in keeping our building SAFE!
