The Cask of Amontillado
The literary devices used in The Cask of Amontillado
Symbolism
An example of symbolism in the cask of Amontillado is the crest for the Montressors. It is a guy stepping on a snake and the snake biting him back. This is a symbolism for the relationship between Montessori and Fortunado. Fortunado stepped on Montressor so now he is biting him back.
Tone
The tone/mood set up by the author is a creepy/ psychologically disturbing mood. An example "The noise lasted for several minutes during which that I might hearken to it with the more satisfaction, I ceased my labour and sat down upon the bones." This sets up the mood of creepiness. He talks about how the scream pleases him and how happy he is to kill Fortunado. This is how Poe sets up the mood of the story
Imagery
"It's walls had been lined with human remains piled to the vault overhead, in the fashion of the great catacombs of Paris." This uses imagery to set up how the Catacombs look up to the reader. He uses this as a great example of Imagery from the short story.
SMORE
The layout of the program is difficult to deal with and editing it looks bad during it. However during the actual presentation is good. It is an alright method of presentation however it is not better than other presentations. No we didn't like it. It was much more difficult than using a different method of presentation.
