Get To Know One Of Our BMS Fifth Graders
By: Anthony Villalobos
I sat down to talk with fifth grader Eduardo Betancourt to ask him some questions about school.
When I asked him what his hardest class in fifth grade was, he said, "My hardest class in fifth grade is reading." I then asked him what he was expecting In sixth grade? He said, "I am expecting harder homework."
We then talked about his best part of the day in school and Eduardo told me his favorite part is his 4th hour with Mrs.Aleman.
I wondered what his hardest thing he did that day in school was and he told me it was Math. He said that Math is hard for him.
My fifth question for Eduardo was, "who do you play with at recess or hang out with the most at school?" "I hang out with Josiah the most at school and at recess" he responded.
I wondered if he noticed a difference between this year and last so I asked him. He said the difference between last year and this year is we have harder Math than last year."
I then asked my eighth question to Eduardo. "What rules are different at school than your rules at home?" "The difference between school and home is I can’t wear my hood at school and at my house I can wear my hood." "Do you think the rule is fair?" "I don’t think it's fair in my opinion."
I ended the conversation by finding out who Eduardo sits with at lunch and what he learned or did today. He told me he sits with his friend Yesina at lunch and what he learned that day was new Math.
I'm sure there is a lot more to learn about Eduardo so maybe you can have a conversation with him when you see him around the school.

Interview With Ms. Kalill
By: Kaleb Thomsen
On Thursday, March 10, 2022, I talked with one of the staff members of Bangor Middle School. I chose my teacher Ms. Kalill. Her name is Elizabeth Kalill. She is from Lafayette, Louisiana. I asked her what made her move here? She said she wanted a change and to see her family. She wanted to try something new. She teaches math, ELA, and she teaches an after school class to get students caught up on their work.
I asked her what made her become a special education teacher. She said she likes to work with kids who need extra help and personal goals. When asked what are a few things she likes to do here in school and at home, one thing she said was that she likes to listen to students' jokes. She likes building relationships with the kids. She enjoys going to the different sporting events. When she is at home she enjoys hanging with her dog and cooking. She can’t wait to make new memories here in Michigan.
I like to be in her room. I feel she has played an important part to me so far. Welcome to Bangor Middle School, Ms. Kalill!

Russian Invasion Of Ukraine
Putin, the Russian president, is threatening America and Ukraine with nukes.
Russia is also force stopping any trades with America and Russia is carrying out 100's of war crimes. Putin even went to the extent of shelling a children's hospital and trapping 100's of Ukrainian people under rubble.
Putin was hoping for 44 million people in Ukraine would just let him take over their country but they said "no" and that's why Putin is invading Ukraine. He thinks Ukraine is Russian territory and the people of Ukraine want to be an independent country. Over 800 russian bombs have already been dropped and this is only the beginning of Putin's rage for Ukraine.
At the time of my research, about a half hour ago he shelled yet another hospital and he also shelled a movie theater where CNN said that there were about 200 kids and adults taking refuge in there and he killed almost every one of those innocent civilians.
I think that this invasion may be the end. It’s been happening since 2002 and the invasion stopped in 2014 and it’s now back up and going again.
I think that Putin should be arrested and go to jail for the war crimes he's committed so far and that's also why he has a 1 million dollar bounty on his head.
