Mrs. Codding's Class
100th Day of School!!
WE counted to 100 in many ways today! We made hats with 100 stars, licked lollipops 100 times, stacked 100 cups, made 100 chains, made fruit loop necklaces with 100 fruit loops showed out 100 projects off and hunted for 100 Hershey kisses in our room! We had a great day!
Valentines Day
We will be having a Valentine Party on Valentine's Day. Valentines are a family choice. I am sending home a list of kiddos in our classroom if you are wanting to get a jump start on doing Valentines. Your child will also need to make a Valentine's box at home to collect Valentines from their friends (be sure to make a place where they can take the valentines out later and look at them! :)). Please have your child write their friends names on the envelope and we will pass out in the morning. This will give us practice reading and matching names.
Sneezy the Snowman
We have spent the week with Sneezy the Snowman! We have been working on retelling the story, setting, characters and problem. Ask you child to use their Sneezy puppets to retell the story of Sneezy the Snowman this weekend!
Reading Folder
Your kiddo is bring home a reading folder. This is for you child to work on reading fluency as well as sounding out words. We have been practicing here at school to read the sentences 1 time and then color a bug. Read the sentence again, color a bug. Repeat until all 5 bugs on the page are colored. We are also "highlighting" the word emphasized in the sentences (it's in a box at the top to the page). Please work on this reading every night. When you have made it through the folder (reading each page as described above) and you have signed next to each row of bugs, send it to school and you child will get a SOAR slip and a special treat! This may take you a few weeks, it may take you a few months! Please use this tool to help your kiddos work on sounding out words AND reading the sentences fluently (easily). Thank you for your help!!
New Sight Words
I am sending home a set of the next 50 sight words we will begin to work on. We need to master the first 25 (sent home at beginning of the year) and the second 50 (set sending home today) by the end of the year. Please work on these words every night at home. Feel free to cut them up and make flashcards with them!
Book Order
In your DOG books there are new Book Order Forms. If you are wanting to order, it will be due by Friday Feb 2. Our online order code is J2QVK
Winter Wear
Please be sure to send a coat to school every day. We will go outside every day, even when it is cold. Also, if your child wears boots to school, please consider putting a pair of shoes in their backpack to wear during the day. Boots get hot after awhile.

Expo markers
We are having a problem with some of our friends "smashing" their Expo Markers. We use our whiteboards daily. I am running low on markers because many of my friends think it is fun to push the tip of the marker as hard as they can to make it not work any more. I have told the kiddos that they will now be either writing you a note or calling you to ask for new markers when they choose to do this.
Habit of the Month Seek First to Understand
I listen to other people’s ideas and feelings
I try to see things from their viewpoints
I listen to others without interrupting
I am confident in voicing my ideas
I look people in the eyes when talking
E-Backpack
Don't forget to check Prairie Point's website for important information! There is a section called E Backpack where notes that would have been sent home in previous years, are now being posted on the website instead.
