Gwantwa Sharing Where she is from!
Sharing about an amazing INVENTOR!
A Proud Eryenda!
A Note from Mrs. Loppnow:
Hello Parents!
Happy Friday! I hope you have some special things planned this weekend. I am headed to the East side of Wisconsin to watch my son, Nathan, participate in a Destination Imagination tournament. It should be a lot of fun. His group's challenge was to recreate an invention...they chose Dance, Dance, Revolution!
We had another busy week. Today the excitement was dissecting OWL PELLETS! It took about two days to convince the students that pellets are NOT poop! Today they discovered how pellets are very similar to a cat hairball, full of feathers, fur, and BONES of their prey. Take a look below for some fun photos of the activity!
I want to send a very special THANK YOU shout-out to Eryenda's Mom, Gwantwa, for reading to our class this morning. She was very kind to share about her home country of Tanzania. The students were enthralled by her beautiful oral story-telling of a book highlighting an African American inventor named Garret Morgan.
I welcome ANY parent to come in to our classroom to share a bit about themselves. We have learned so much over the last few weeks about different countries, cultures, traditions, and families! Thank you!
Enjoy your weekend!

A Peek into this week and next!
Writer's Workshop: This week the students worked to complete their writing on food/food chain related to their research animal. They will be creating food webs in the computer lab to add to their project boards for our Animal Menagerie showcase. We can't wait to show off all of our hard work!
Content: It was Crime Scene Investigation week! Someone has been eating all of the forest creatures and we needed to find out WHOOOOOO!!! After reading clues and researching our suspects, we determined it was the OWL who was the guilty party! Participating in these activities prepared us to complete our dissection today. It was awesome to see all of the pieces come together! I encourage you to continue to explore the fascinating world of owls!
Reader's Workshop: This week the students read a book title OWL LIFE. They worked through different portions of the book to identify Main Idea and supporting details. They also practiced using text evidence to make inferences and ask and answer questions. It is awesome to see the students using everything they have learned over the last few weeks with one small text.
