Welcome Back to the 2021-2022 School Year

It is a pleasure to welcome each of you back to our 2021-2022 school year. It is my great hope that your summer has been filled with laughter, fun, relaxation, and reading! I’m always amazed how quickly summer comes to an end. The start of school is always one of my favorite times of the year. The building is filled with a contagious buzz of energy, excitement, laughter, and joy as old friends and new come together for another incredible year at New Vision Charter School. I am very honored and humbled to be part of such an incredible team of staff, parents, and students. Our staff has been working incredibly hard to make this year the best year yet, one filled with many successes and much joy.

For those of you that are new to New Vision, welcome! For those of you returning, welcome back! I am excited to see each and every one of you. As your principal, I believe in supporting the whole child in their educational journey, and partnering with all stakeholders is not only welcomed but encouraged. We are all on the same team to help our students be prepared for every opportunity for a successful future.

It is with great excitement that I introduce you to our new Assistant Principal. Mrs. Andrews joins us from a neighboring school district with over 12 years of experience as a teacher, literacy specialist, and instructional coach. She brings an incredible amount and experience, knowledge, expertise, and energy and is an amazing addition to our team.

A great deal of time, effort, and thought has gone into the process of student placement for the 2021-2022 school year. Careful consideration was given throughout this process. From staff input, learning styles, and student needs. Classrooms have been balanced academically and socially. Our class lists are structured to provide equitable class sizes at each grade level. Moving students is difficult without causing imbalances and inequities. Thank you for being positive with your students and helping them understand that it is impossible to place all students with a preferred best friend or teacher. All of our staff works hard to make school a positive experience for ALL students. Thank you for understanding that it can take a few weeks for students to acclimate to a new grade, peer group, and teacher.

For our new families and a reminder for our returning families, each Friday at 5:30 p.m. you will receive the Nighthawk News in your email, text, app, and on Facebook and Twitter. I encourage you to read through this information each week.

As we start this year with many changes, there is an incredible level of excitement within the community and it is the same level of excitement that our teachers have as they are crafting their final preparations for the beginning of the year. We take the entrustment that you have put on us to educate your children very seriously and we are working to ensure a continuation of elevating excellence in academics, character, and community in a way that supports them in becoming responsible, respectful, and productive citizens.

I am excited to welcome you back to another incredible year at New Vision Charter School. If at any time you have any questions, please feel free to stop by the office, email me at mbaker@newvisioncharterschool.org or call me at 970-541-4365.
