PK 4.3 - Weekly Newsletter
This week, we had the opportunity to immerse in the wonderful world of books through "Bringing Literature to Life". Our class focused on studying Roald Dahl as an author, but we also had the chance to get to know a little bit more about three other authors that have published wonderful stories for children; Dr. Seuss, Mo Willems and Laura Numeroff. We visited the rest of the PK4 classrooms and had rotations to do different activities related to their books and their characters.
Speaking of authors, we had the unique experience to meet one IN PERSON! We were fortunate to welcome Kristy Dempsey in our school and enjoyed one of her books; "Superhero Instruction Manual".
Kristy Dempsey was born in Lake City, South Carolina. She's a PK-12th grade librarian at The American School of Belo Horizonte in Brazil- where she has lived since 1998. For more information about her work and career, access https://kristydempsey.com/
Lastly, THANK YOU for joining us in our first "Literacy Afternoon". As you were able to experience, the early years promote and create the foundation for developing reading and writing skills and our interest areas have a special way to engage children while they foster language and literacy abilities.
A scoop on what's coming- next week, we'll start our study on TREES!
