Anything Goes
Garden City Set To Sail Away on the S.S. American
GARDEN CITY MIDDLE SCHOOL AND The S.S. AMERICAN, MARCH 13th & 14th – The Music Box Players, under the direction of Mrs. Kristen Aguilo and the vocal direction of Mrs. Nancy Menges, invite Garden City to join the crew of the S.S. American and sail away with Anything Goes. Packed with timeless classics like “I Get A Kick Out of You” and “De-lovely,” and irresistible show-stoppers like “Anything Goes” and “Blow, Gabriel, Blow,” Anything Goes is a feel-good, laugh-out-loud farce that has had audiences tapping their toes with Reno Sweeney, lamenting their fates with Hope Harcourt and rooting for the criminal capers with Moonface Martin, earning its place in the canon of great Broadway musicals.
Anything Goes is set aboard the ocean liner S. S. American, where nightclub singer/evangelist Reno Sweeney is en route from New York to England. Her pal Billy Crocker has stowed away to be near his love, Hope Harcourt, but the problem is Hope is engaged to the wealthy Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Joining this love triangle on board the luxury liner are Public Enemy #13, Moonface Martin and his sidekick-in-crime Erma. With the help of some elaborate disguises, tap-dancing sailors and good old-fashioned blackmail, Reno and Martin join forces to help Billy in his quest to win Hope’s heart.
The Spring Musical will be the product of five months of student dedication and passion for musical theater. It has been a long standing Music Box Players tradition to introduce new talent to the Garden City community. The musical features intricate choreography, complicated musical arrangements with small ensemble singing in three-part harmony, and rousing full company numbers that allow everyone in the cast their moment to shine.
Tickets will be available to purchase for $10 each on Monday, March 2nd! Please email aguilok@gcufsd.net with your ticket requests.

ONE BOOK, ONE SCHOOL: Join the discussion today!

This program is voluntary and participants will have to acquire their own copies of the selected book; however, everyone, students, teachers, and administrators, are encouraged to follow along together. Parents are also encouraged to follow along and discuss the book with their children at home.
A recommended reading schedule will be posted on the One School, One Book website to help participants keep up with the reading at home. Participating students will respond to online discussion questions and are invited to a face to face book discussion to take place after school in late March.
