On Tuesday May 11 all Algebra students will be virtual.
Dear Parents,
The Texas Education Agency has released a waiver application to allow hybrid instruction during district scheduled STAAR testing days for K-8th grade students. This waiver would allow us to provide (non-testing) groups of students to work asynchronously/virtual on specific days if there is not enough space to safely proctor the paper assessments on the STAAR testing date
Therefore, on May 11 all Algebra students will stay home and work asynchronously while all 6th, 7th and 8th grade In Person students and virtual students (who would like to test) take their Math & Reading test . This is to provide safety through proper social distancing throughout the school. Students and personnel will be safe because we will be reducing the number of students in the building. If you have any questions or concerns, please email cprados@houstonisd.org.

Question: If my child is taking Algebra do they have to take the Algebra End of Course Exam?
Answer: No, however TEA has not waived EOC testing for the 2020-2021 school year. Our recommendation is that all Algebra students take the EOC while the material is fresh on their mind. Either they take it now or in High school but they will have to take the EOC to graduate.
