A summary of recent School Board action

Termination of probationary staff

Due to decreases/changes in enrollment, elimination of positions, uncertainty of funding, lack of funds, performance or return from leave of senior teachers, the Board voted to terminate one probationary teacher.

Quarterly budget report and amendments

Bridget Peterson, director of finance, presented the revenue and expenditure reports for all funds for the third quarter ending March 31, 2020. Both revenues and expenditures are within budget for fiscal year 2019-20 in the operating funds. Budget amendments were also included in the report. As additional budgetary information becomes known, it is necessary to amend the District's budgets to reflect those changes. For more details, please visit the Budgets & Finance page.

Summer programming update

Assistant Superintendent Jeff Ridlehoover provided an update on summer programming. Since Governor Walz has extended the order for distance learning, District instructional staff has made alternative plans to provide summer academic programming. Included in these plans are a variety of ways to provide core academic instruction to students at the elementary, middle and high school levels while also providing special education services to our students with individualized education plans.

Student support and engagement update

Jen Lodin, Executive Director of Student Support and Engagement, provided an update on the District Operational Plan Student Experience priority goal. The update focused on staffing, updates for learning supports, therapeutic services and distance learning supports.

Community Education update

Director of Community Education Karl Brown provided an update on online programming. The update included information on new online and hybrid classes that are being developed and will be offered for students and adults through Community Education. Information was also be shared on alternative plans being explored for summer camps, clinics and classes.


The Board discussed issues and updates related to Northeast Metro 916 and AMSD.
