SRO Student of the Week: Hunter H
"Today while walking between Windsor High School pool and Windsor Middle School, one of the girls forgot her backpack. Hunter offered to walk with her so that she could get there safely as well as make sure she found her things, and then he walked her back. He always makes sure everything is running safely in the locker rooms, and helps teammates find lost phones and lost items. He's the first to open doors and is a great teammate."
School Attendance on October 2
Each year, public schools across the state of Colorado are required to participate in the “October Student Count” to determine the official number of students enrolled in each school, which impacts funding. The count will occur on Monday, Oct. 2, this year. We're asking for your help in making sure your student attends school on Monday, Oct. 2. While next Monday is an important day, consistent school attendance is beneficial every day. Research shows that students who consistently miss school are at risk of lower academic achievement, failure, and even dropping out of school altogether.
Parent Teacher Conferences 10/09 & 10/11
Windsor Middle School will be hosting our first semester parent/teacher conferences on October 09, 2023 & October 11, 2023 from 4:15 – 8:00 PM. These conferences are drop-in style and it is strongly recommended that you bring your student with you, as they will provide some insights on how classes are going.
In preparation for conferences, we encourage you to check on your student’s grades and attendance using our district’s Infinite Campus Parent Portal. If you are not familiar with Infinite Campus, you can find more information here: https://weldre4.org/en-US/parent-applications-dashboard-079e8097
If your student is currently thriving here at WMS please consider connecting with their teacher(s) via email rather than an in-person conference. Also, please understand that conferences are 5-10 minutes each and will likely occur back-to-back. Your student’s teacher will need to begin and end the conference on time to maintain a schedule throughout the evening. If you anticipate needing longer than 5-10 minutes, please email your student’s teacher directly to set up an appointment.
As conferences are intended to be short meetings with your child’s teacher(s) it may be difficult to see all of their teachers in one evening. Please prioritize the teachers you wish to speak with most.
Thank you for you continued support and partnership in providing your child with the best educational opportunities possible!
Parent/Teacher Conference Meals
2023 Parent/Teacher Conferences are set for Oct. 9th & 11th from 4:15-8pm. We would love help making sure our staff and teachers are loved on and fed for those evenings.
Please use the links below sign-up for a dish and bring to the Front Office by 3pm on the day that you sign-up for.
If you are bringing items in a crockpot-please use the liners so that it is easier for us to return it to you clean.
Please label any containers with your name so we can get it back to the correct people.
We do not need silverware or napkins-we have plenty.
A Note From The Health Office
Just a reminder, we need updated immunization records or immunization exemption forms turned in to the health office by October 30! If we don't have one or the other we will have to call home, as the students won't be able to be at school without that documentation.

Windsor Middle School's BIONIC Club (Believe It Or Not I Care) is selling socks for a cause.
When someone in a developing country becomes an amputee – they quickly come to realize they have lost much more than a limb. The loss of a limb is just the first loss in a cycle of loss that often includes their job, social standing, self-worth, family, dignity, and finally their humanity. Let’s break that cycle!
Most of us don’t even think about it. We take thousands of steps every day. It’s just a part of life.
But for millions of amputees throughout the developing world, the possibility of taking a single step is just a dream.
WMS's BIONIC club started the sock campaign to help give amputees around the world a second chance at life by providing them with a leg system that is high-quality and costs less than the cell phone that we carry around in our pockets every day.
Also: For every pack sold, we will receive a pair of socks to donate to people in need within our own community!

We thank you for your support,
WMS BIONIC and Mrs. Brandl

VOLUNTEER COACHING INFORMATION
There are a few steps to volunteering as a Coach at WMS. The first step is to speak with the Head Coach of the sport you want to participate in. When that coach approves you, he or she will send a note to Mr. Cox, our Athletic Director, informing him of the potential volunteer, and that the coach has met the potential volunteer and has a plan for that volunteer to help our program. The potential volunteer will then need to come see Mr. Cox to get a Volunteer Coaching form. You will need that form in order to complete an application to volunteer on our RAPTOR system. Once you have the form, go to RAPTOR and fill out the volunteer application. When you are approved, you will be in the system and are then able to work with our athletes.
Please call Mr. Cox if you have any questions, or need help working through the process, at (970) 686-8219.
