This week in Language Arts...
Language Arts - Happy New Year! This week we set goals and wrote New Year's Resolutions. We also completed our Mid-Year Writing Piece where we had to decide which "Thomas" (Thomas Jefferson or Thomas Edison) had the greater impact on society today. These pieces will be used to measure growth since August, and will be the first writing test grade for the 3rd quarter. New Genre Bingo cards were handed out and we charted our progress so far this year in reading. Please remember the reading contract from the beginning of the year (found inside the reading folder) and help to monitor your child's progress with this task. The contract outlines the 4th grade reading requirement this year. Some students are falling short in this area. Also, your child has a weekly eClass post due for Language Arts. Students have 3 days to complete this at school or home with a 4th day (late) if needed (Wed. -Sat.). BrainPop Boards were due today. These were given out way back on Nov. 2. I was disappointed to find that many students waited until the last few days to complete these. The goal was to do 2-3 each week maximum benefit. New ones will be handed out closer to mid-term and won't be due until 4th quarter. The school Spelling Bee was held today and our 2 Rock Stars (Sam Beasley & Shay Neuhauser) represented us well - Shay ended up in 2nd place! Way to go, Shay!!!
