What Brings Your Family Joy?!
Car Seats are a MUST for ALL Our Students!
Just a reminder for all families, that for any child this age or younger you are required to have a car seat or booster seat. For any cars without car seats or booster seats, we will not be able to release the child to you. Please be sure to have appropriate car seats or boosters in your cars. If, for any reason, you need assistance obtaining a car seat, our counselor has resources to help! Please contact her. It is also super helpful to have their car seat on the right side of the back seat so we can load and unload your child with stepping into traffic. Thank you!
Here is the verbiage from the Texas Department of Public Safety Website:
Front-Facing Car Seats - Children over the age of 2 should ride in a forward-facing safety seat as long as possible, up to the upper height or weight limit (40 – 80+ pounds) of the harnesses. Usually 4+ years old. Properly installed forward-facing in the back seat.
Booster Seats - After age 4 and 40+ pounds and behavior maturity*, children can ride in a booster seat with the adult lap and shoulder belt until the adult safety belt will fit them properly (usually when the child is 10 – 12 years old).
MUST have a lap/shoulder belt to use a booster seat.
*Behavior maturity required according to booster seat owner's manual

The Counselor Corner
Last week I shared multiple opportunities for you to stay involved in your child’s education. Here are some facts about the positive impact of parent involvement in schools:
· Parent involvement improves student academic achievement
· Parent involvement exceeds impact of a child’s level of intelligence
· Students who feel supported will likely experiences less distress
· Students who have involved parents make healthier choices
· Parent involvement helps manage behavior
Ask your child about work she brings home. Ask your child about activities his teacher posts on Seesaw. Open ended questions like, “What did you use to make this?” and “What did you like about this activity?” will help your child with critical thinking skills and stimulates language development.
When parents choose to stay involved in their child’s school, the child believes he or she has the skills to be successful in school. This positive self-perception along with a great student-teacher relationship plays a significant role in your child’s education and life outside the classroom. At ECS we will continue to help your child learn skills to be great kids!
