News from the Flock in 15

Keeping you up to date on the latest and greatest!

How is October Nearly Half Over?

It is so hard to believe that October is nearly halfway through. The boys and girls in both my AM and PM classes have worked so hard throughout this unit to learn and apply new skills in both reading and writing. I am so proud of their dedication, hard work, and commitment to refining and editing assignments to make them their best. Please continue to check BCPS One for updates on grades, comments that I make daily regarding assignment completion, and other important information that may be included with grades. There are only 2 weeks left before the end of the quarter, so please discuss with your child what their current grade is, and any other expectations/goals you may work together to establish based on these conversations.

Running for the Flock

This weekend is the Baltimore Half Marathon. In Room 15, we have talked about setting goals for ourselves since the beginning of the year. I have frequently shared with the boys and girls just how important it is to always set goals and work to achieve them. Your children inspire me daily to better myself as an educator, and remind me just how grateful I am to have such a great group of students who work so hard. At the beginning of the summer, I set a goal to be able to simply run a 5K. If you've ever heard stories your children have shared, you'll know that I am not the most athletic person in the world. However, I achieved my goal back in August of running a 5K and finishing to the end. Then, I made a goal to run a half marathon.

I can't believe this time is here, and that I am ready to achieve this goal. Your children are the reason I am running this weekend. I am running in their honor. It is an honor to be their teacher, and I am beyond grateful for the lessons that they teach me daily in perseverance and goal setting. They have held me accountable each week that we have morning meetings in asking how I am doing with my goal setting with running, and I have been able to use this as a teachable lesson for them with regard to their own goal setting. I can't wait to continue to set goals with the boys and girls in my classes throughout the duration of the year!

Thank you for being so supportive of them every day, and for helping be their cheerleaders as they work to set and achieve goals this year. We couldn't do it without you.
