Cottonwood Creek Cougar Chronicle
November Part 2
There are a lot of exciting things happening at Cottonwood this month so I wanted to take this opportunity send a Part 2 to the November CCCC. Thank you for taking time to read about these exciting events.
The students and teachers of our kindergarten, 2nd and 4th grade classes invite you to participate in our fall service project - Boodle Boxes!!
We are collecting items for a specific company of soldiers, the Brave Rifles, 3rd Cavalry out of Fort Hood, TX. These soldiers are currently deployed in the Middle East, and we would like to fill boxes to be shipped over in time for the holidays. We will be collecting items thru Monday, November 19th. On November 19th and 20th, our specials team will provide an opportunity for our students to write letters, create cards and/or make an ornament. Students will also work together to assemble the boxes and prepare them for shipping. You can find more information below.
We are a school that values and celebrates diversity. Our staff is focusing on Culturally Relevant Educational Practices, and we are are looking for authentic opportunities to continue to build relationships, engage our students, define our cultural identity, and be vulnerabe, while remaining focused on our assets and rigorous instruction. In collaboration with Cultural Connections, we're wanting to recognize and celebrate the variety of cultures represented and languages spoken at Cottonwood. Below is one way we can begin to celebrate.
Celebrating Veterans
On Wednesday, the Cougar Family recoginized and celebrated Veterans in our community. I was so honored to stand in front of our students as their principal, as they spent the morning expressing their gratitude to Veterans. Through song and words, our students truly paid tribute to our Veterans. In case you haven't seen the clip below, I encourage you to take the opportunity to see a snapshot of how our students, your children, came together to honor the heros of red, white and the blue.
