What does A.L.E.K.S. stand for?

Assessment and LEarning in Knowledge Spaces is a Web-based, artificially intelligent assessment and learning system. ALEKS uses adaptive questioning to quickly and accurately determine exactly what a student knows and doesn't know in a course. ALEKS then instructs the student on the topics she is most ready to learn. As a student works through a course, ALEKS periodically reassesses the student to ensure that topics learned are also retained. ALEKS courses are very complete in their topic coverage and ALEKS avoids multiple-choice questions. A student who shows a high level of mastery of an ALEKS course will be successful in the actual course she is taking.

ALEKS also provides the advantages of one-on-one instruction, 24/7, from virtually any Web-based computer for a fraction of the cost of a human tutor. ( this information was pulled straight from the Aleks website!!)

How aleks works for me.

The site is called and I honestly love it. You start off by taking a super quick assessment. The webside then teaches you about topic in math you dont underdstand or are bad at.The site can also explain it if you need further help. I can usually do about 7 topics in 1 hour! Its super fast and it makes the topics easy to understand and really helps me quite a bit.

Im an 9th grader and I have a lot of classes and after school things I have to do at once so it's kind of hard for me to remember math sometimes, when I'm already bad at the subject, and Aleks helps me alot in that. The website will simply give me topic that we are working on in class and will help me review it so I can remember it easier and I tend to do way better in my math class the next day. I can see the improvement a lot and so can both of my teachers. My grade went from a C- to an A in just 1 semester and its all thanks to this handy website.
