The History of Basketball

James Naismith is the inventor of basketball. He was born in Almonte, Ontario, Canada. He went to McGill University and Presbyterian College. He was a PE teacher at McGill University and Springfield College. He invented the game because he wanted some sport for people to do in the winter. He invented the game in 1891. You would just dribble the ball the court and shoot the ball into a peach basketball. As time went on, the game turned into what it is now.

The Legends

Michael Jordan is one of the legends of basketball. He was on the Chicago Bulls for most of his career. He is a six-times NBA champion. He has also been MVP for 5 years. He averaged 28.2 points per game. He once even scored 63 points in one game. He is the legend that many NBA players look up to.

Larry Bird is also one of the legends of basketball. Larry Bird was on the Boston Celtics most of his career. He has been a champion three times. He has also been MVP three times. He also leads the NBA in points averaged per game.

The Great Team

One of the great NBA basketball teams is the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls. The team had Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman. The team was 72-10 the season. They won 87 of the 100 teams they played, which included the playoffs. When they got to the championships, they won in 6 games.
