The Taj Mahal is considered to be the greatest architectural achievement in the world! But if you look closely it has the most outstanding designs made out of precious, valuable gems. It houses the remaines of Mumatz Muhal who was, Shan Jahans most cherished wife. The Taj Mahal is a mixture a mixture of different architecture that was influenced by many cultures. The building of the Taj Mahal took 22 years and, was commissioned in 1632. But do you know everything?

The Cause

Shan Jahan was an emperor and, Mumatz Muhal was his most Cherished wife out of all the three. She died after having their 14th child. Shan built the Taj Mahal to house the remains of her body. Her last request was, " I want to be remembered by a huge, beautiful monument,". Therefor the Taj Mahal was named in honor of her.

Construction

The Taj Mahal is one of the 7 wonders of the world. They say the Taj Mahal seams to change colors all throughout the day. But, the most gorgeous time is at sunset, when the sunlight hits the white marble on top of the huge dome, they say it looks golden. The Taj Mahal took at least 20,000 workers to build! It has a huge square garden that is divided into quarters by very long pools of water. Now the building is truly magnificent! It was built on 42 lush, green acres on the southern banks of the Yamuna river in Agra, India. On it is a gigantic guest house. On top of this masterpiece is a, Hershey kiss shaped dome that is made out of marble, and researchers say its 58ft in diameter and, rises 40 ft. That is pretty big! Around this building are four tall slender pencil shaped towers. The architecture used great big arches that were inscribed with verses from the Qu'an . Inside the mausoleum, it is made out of marble, and precious stones- jade, crystals, lapis, lazuil, amethyst, and turquoise. The Taj Mahal took 22 years to build and was commissioned in 1632.

The Taj Mahal is one of the most outstanding examples of Mughal architecture which is a combination of Indian, Persian, and Islamic. Did you know that it is one of the worlds most famous tombs?! About 5 million people a year visit the Taj Mahal, but during the peak of tourist season about 45,000 visit. What is sad is that all the air pollution poses a continental threat to the mausoleums gleaming, white marble facade. But people are trying to remodel to help. This building is truly a great example of ancient architecture, and always will be.
There are many things to know about the Taj Mahal, such as, why it was built and how. It is surly a wonder to look and to take a tour of. So many ideas, designing, and construction took place, and it is still standing today.
