WHERE WILL THE JOBS BE?
It is predicted that jobs will change in the future. There is a constant evolution in the jobs that are available and predictions suggest that jobs in the future will require new skills. These skills include: Problem solving, ICT, communication and teamwork. Some occupations will be replaced through technological improvements just as other jobs will be created. Students need to be aware of the need to develop transferable skills and the importance of lifelong learning.
WA’s top growth industries
Western Australian job seekers are being encouraged to explore TAFE training options to take advantage of forecast job growth in the State.
The forecast key growth areas over the next five years:
· Health Care and Social Assistance (25,000 additional jobs)
· Education and Training (14,000 additional jobs)

TAFE
VET in Schools are certificate courses run at TAFE for one or two days a week that enable students in Years 11/12 to obtain certificates in courses not provided for at school. They are competitive and students need to be aware that grades achieved in school are used as entrance qualifications into the courses. Applications for the courses and all details can be found at:

KWINANA INDUSTRIES COUNCIL
Congratulations to Issac Paul for his successful completion of the iDiversity project at Kwinana Industry Council.
The KIC Education Development Program is about exposing high school students in the region to the types of careers that are available in industry, and working with them in a practical sense on how they might aspire to these sorts of careers. Issac spent five days experiencing work life in industries around Perth.
He spent time with students from other schools in the area developing team building, confidence, self -esteem and public speaking skills.

The Simpson Prize
Entries close 11 November 2016
The Simpson Prize is a national competition for Year 9 and 10 students. The competition requires students to respond to the following question:
“The experience of Australian soldiers on the Western Front in 1916 has been largely overlooked in accounts of World War One.”

Recruit Information Sessions include presentations by WA Police Recruiting Personnel, Police Recruits and other members of WA Police and provide an overview of the recruitment and selection process, training requirements and job specific information relevant to a career as a police officer.

STARTING YOUR CAREER PATHWAY
A student studying Certificate II in school can start their training pathway. It can lead to further studies at TAFE or to a traineeship or apprenticeship. A certificate II is one of the requirements of WACE if An ATAR score is not generated through completion of four ATAR subjects in year 12.

Green Army Programme
