Attribution, Advocacy, and Accountability: Supporting all Students with ASD (Module formerly known as Asperger's)
Presenters: START Team
This module is intended for participants educating students with Asperger’s Syndrome (AS). The module explores characteristics of students with AS and effective practices identified in the literature to support students in their school environment. Relevant theories are covered, including social attribution theory and theory of mind, which are critical to supporting the
social, emotional and behavioral development of students with AS. The Path A/Path B strategy is used to teach participants how attributions impact decision making and responses to the behaviors of students with AS.

New to ASD Collaborative Network
Special education, general education and ancillary staff who are in their first three years of working with students with ASD are invited to join this collaborative network. We will meet four times during the school year and will address specific needs
regarding successfully supporting students with ASD. Topics including the need for visual supports, educational strategies, behavioral and peer to peer supports will be addressed. In addition to learning more about autism, participants will have the opportunity to network and collaborate with other educators from the county, receive coaching support from OS consultants and learn more about valuable resources. Registrants will be contacted with a virtual meeting link if we are unable to meet in person. Dinner will be provided for face-to-face meetings.
Stipend provided for attendance at each meeting!

You're Going to Love This Kid!: Educating Students with Autism in Inclusive Schools with Dr. Paula Kluth
In this interactive session with Dr. Paula Kluth, both special education and general education educators will learn practical ways of supporting students with Autism as well as other disabilities within a general education classroom. The topics that will be addressed include:
defining (and redefining) Autism; differentiating instruction; creating more active and responsive
lessons; making the classroom comfortable; collaboration between general and special
education teachers and paraprofessionals; as well as providing opportunities for communication and social skill development. This day of learning will focus on the
importance of pushing beyond access and participation and asking schools to challenge students and to understand each learner as complex and capable.
