Friday Focus

March 18, 2016

This is my 100th Friday Focus in a row! A few of them were later in the day, but to my knowledge, I have sent out something every Friday you have been in the building. I hope this has been a good way for me to the get the message out to the staff and if it is not working, let me know. I enjoy being able to get some things off of my chest about the education world and brain storm some ideas on how to handle situations. My entire goal has been to encourage you or challenge your stance on a “that’s how we have always done it” issue. Thank you for reading 100 rants from me.

I am not sure how to segway from a celebration brag on myself paragraph to a serious announcement, but here it goes anyway. Nancy Bagge has asked me to use the Friday Focus to help her announce some big news. After only a few short years as an educator, Nancy has decided to retire. I have thought all week what I would say here, but my words cannot do justice for this situation. We all wish Nancy well in her new adventures as we will miss her dearly. It will be a unique search to try and find the person who will follow Nancy.

Spring is upon us and it is hard to believe we are ¾ of the way through this year. In just a few short weeks, we will be doing ACT and EOC testing and then packing up for the summer. The kids will start smelling the end of the year and try to kick into cruise control. We have to stay vigilant and keep on top of them. Make sure they are working hard for you to the very end by keeping them engaged with meaningful learning.

Thank you to Kellie Austene for organizing the St. Patrick’s Day food celebration. It was fun to see everyone relaxing and enjoying themselves. We need to keep the momentum going. If anyone has an idea of something fun we can do, please let me know.
