Environmental Awareness Schoolwide Read
Once again, the entire Lower School will read the same book to celebrate environmental awareness, conservation and sustainability. This year’s schoolwide read is Seeds of Change: Planting the Path to Peace (a biography of Wangari Maathai, the first African woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize). This book also ties into other curricular themes including leadership (5th), world cultures (2nd), and trees (K). Each classroom (as well as art, music, and science specials) will receive a copy of the book. Katie Hahn and I will provide classroom connections and extensions. The book’s author--Jen Cullerton Johnson--will visit the Lower School on Monday, April 18th for related grade-level (JK-1, 2-3, 4-5) presentations (times to be provided).
