North Pointe Ballet Company at Whitney!
Today, we had a very special assembly. The North Pointe Ballet Company taught our students a little about dance and shared with us some excerpts from "The Nutcracker" ballet. This assembly was provided free of charge as a community outreach! It was awesome to see the students' faces light up as they got to experience a professional ballet company "up close and personal". North Pointe Ballet Company's production of "The Nutcracker" is being performed at Hope Community Church Auditorium in Olmsted Falls, December 9th, 10th, and 11th. For tickets, call (440) 723-8598.

North Pointe ballerinas perform for Whitney!
Remember to have students wear their "Be A Reading Superstar" t-shirts on the 30th!
Fox 8 News will be at Whitney on Wednesday, November 30th to film our segment for the "Cool School"! This will air on Thursday, December 1st between 6:30-6:50 a.m. and again during their 4 p.m. newscast on Fox 8 News. The story will also be available on their website at www.fox8.com. On Wednesday, November 30, 2016 we will hold our first "Recognition Assembly" of the year. We recognize students for "Excellent" (less than 3 days absent) and "Perfect" attendance. We also recognize a student from each classroom as the "Art Student," the "Music Student," and the "Physical Education Student" of the trimester. Following the acknowledgement of these students, we will recognize all our students for their participation in the "Be A Reading Superstar" reading initiative. We will do a lottery drawing, based on student participation, and 4 students will receive $20 gift certificates to shop at the upcoming PTA Holiday Shoppe! Congratulations to all our students for their accomplishments and participation!
LOVE & LOGIC PARENT SURVEY
Love and Logic, developed by Jim Fay and Foster Cline of the Love and Logic Institute, Golden, CO., is a program where parents learn parenting skills that put the fun back into parenting by teaching parents the skills of using empathy, choices, and natural consequences that lead to raising responsible children.
Our District is planning to bring this program to our elementary school families in early 2017. In hopes of tailoring this to as many interested families as possible, please fill out this SURVEY. Answers to the survey will help us select topics and location for this program.

Student Council Giving Tree!
In the spirit of the season, Student Council will have a Giving Tree set up in the library. This Giving Tree will be decorated with handmade ornaments. Each ornament will have an item listed on the back. If your child chooses to participate, they simply take an ornament, purchase the item, and return it, unwrapped, with the ornament attached. This year we are sending our items to an outreach program for the homeless in Cleveland and The Parma Animal Shelter. We will also give students the opportunity to write greeting cards to residents of Kemper House. All items need to be turned in to our Giving Tree by December 14th. We hope you will support this community service project.
