A note from Principal Walsh

Hello Carver Families!

It is a great day at Carver Elementary and we are excited to welcome spring!

As the principal of Carver, I strive to make Carver a safe and happy place for all students. The most recent POSSIP survey provided some feedback from families around bullying at Carver. Schools across the world take bullying seriously and Carver is no exception. We understand that one of our roles is to help students get along with one another. Staff at Carver work hard to help students understand the difference between rude and mean behaviors and bullying. I am sharing those definitions with your families.

  • Bullying behavior is aggressive, unwanted and hurts or harms another person physically or emotionally.

  • Those targeted by the behavior have difficulty stopping the action directed at them and struggle to defend themselves.

  • There is a real or perceived “imbalance of power” which is used to control or harm others.

    • The student demonstrating the bullying behavior can have more “power” in ways such as higher social status, is physically larger, has access to embarrassing information, or is emotionally intimidating.

  • The behavior is repeated over multiple days, weeks or months.

  • Pam Rickers, Carver Social Worker, is providing some excellent resources to support your family. Stop Bullying Website and Bullying Information Article

In addition, we want to provide your family a place to report bullying behavior. Please use this link if your child is impacted by bullying at school. We will follow-up with all students and families who reach out to us using this form. Bullying Incident Report Form

Thank you for letting us learn with your children!

Housing Help:

St. Paul PHA Multifamily Housing Waiting List Opening

The St. Paul Public Housing Agency (St. Paul PHA) will begin accepting online applications for 0/1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 bedroom apartments beginning on March 1, 2023 and continuing until further notice. The Multifamily Housing program provides apartments with reduced rent (based on income) to households with low incomes.

All applications received between 8:00 AM on March 1 and 11:59 PM on March 7 will be randomly sorted (like a lottery), so there is no advantage to applying on the first day. Applications received after March 7, 2023 will be sorted by the date and time received.

More information about the PHA's Multifamily Housing program can be found at www.stpha.org and www.HousingLink.org.

Click here to view the Public Housing Multifamily Waiting List FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions).
