Monk Fryston Weekly News 1.4.22

Next weeks school target is:

Remember to follow instructions.

Uniform.

We have noticed that some children aren’t always following our uniform policy and would like your help in ensuring that they always come to school in the right clothes. This is important in maintaining our standards consistently and shows that they belong to our school community. Please look at the uniform policy on our website if you are unsure about what children can wear.

Welcome Mrs Townson.

We are delighted to have appointed Mrs Townson as Teaching Assistant. She will be replacing Mrs Lee in Year 3 when she leaves at the end of April.

Easter Service 5.4.22

We have an Easter service in church next Tuesday at 10am. Parents are welcome to come along, but please note that space is limited and if you are attending, the pews in the centre of the nave and the front of the two side aisles will be needed for children.

PTA Meeting 5.4.22

Join us for the next PTA meeting at MF School 7.30pm 5th April. We look forward to seeing you there.

Big Walk & Wheel Results.

We are delighted with our response to the Big Walk & Wheel. Eco Warriors have collected the number of journeys made each day and currently our school is coming 37th in the North of England, and 232nd in the whole of the UK – which is amazing (final places including Friday data will be announced next week). We made 1,175 active journeys and saved a great deal of CO2 from emissions, which is fantastic. Thanks for your support.

Sports Day 25.5.22.

Sports Day will be held on 25th May. Parents are welcome to attend and cheer the children on. Races start at 1.30pm, please do not arrive before 1.15pm as the gates will be locked for lunchtime play.

Safeguarding

As a school, we hold the safeguarding of our school community very dear. We have recently noticed that children are talking to passers-by through the fence at playtimes. We do try to discourage this, as we cannot vouch for every individual. We have explained to the children about ‘Stranger Danger’ and how it may be best not to encourage conversations through the fence. Many thanks for your understanding.

Parent Volunteers

We are delighted to be able to have volunteers into schools again, and would welcome parents to help us. If you are able to give any time to us, either on an ad-hoc or regular basis, you will need to complete a DBS application. Please contact the office for more information.

Save the Date Friday 3rd June - Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

Monk Fryston School have been invited to join in the Monk Fryston and Hillam Platinum Jubilee celebrations during the day on Friday 3rd June - this is one of the Jubilee Bank Holidays on the half term holiday. School children can take part in a parade through the villages followed by a picnic (packed lunch) on the school field. This will be provided by Monk Fryston Parish Council. We hope you and your family can save the date for what will be a fun-filled, historic village and school event.
Big picture

Send a shout out to a member of staff.

This is to recognise staff who have done something great. We want to recognise the achievement of all our staff so please help up to pass on your nice comments and thanks.

Pupil Absence Requests

This form should be completed by the parent/carer and returned to the school as far in advance as possible and preferably preferably with sufficient notice before the first intended day of absence.

The DfE regulations for attendance state that leave of absence during term-time should not be granted by schools unless there are ‘exceptional circumstances.’ Parents/carers must obtain the school’s permission before making any arrangements for leave in exceptional circumstances, otherwise the absence will be recorded as unauthorised and may result in a penalty notice being served.
