Background information
Riding Mountain was first called Fort Dauphin Hill. the first settlers were Robert Campbell and his son Glen Lyon. Some important features are the Southern Boreal Plains and plateaux ( National Region), Fescue Prairie, Shoal Lake Marsh community, Manitoba Escarpment, snake Hibernacula, Okanesse cemetery .ecozone= the cropland of the southern Prairies and the forests of the Boreal Plains.
"The Parks are hereby dedicated to the people of Canada for their benefit, education and enjoyment...and shall be maintained and made use of so as to leave them unimpaired for the enjoyment of the future generations." National Parks Act, 1930.

Specific impact: Permafrost, causing precipitation increase might not be able to infiltrate into the ground and without the sufficient groundwater replenishment, summer base flow in the rivers and streams will be less disturbing the water tables (Clair et al- 1998 projected a total annual increase in runoff of around 16% in the region).
