On January 22, 2021, the Tennessee General Assembly enacted the Tennessee Learning Loss Remediation and Student Acceleration Act (SB 7002/HB 7004) to address the learning loss of students due to COVID-19 related school closures. Through this new law, all school districts in Tennessee will be required to offer learning loss remediation summer programs for students in grades K-8, starting in summer 2021.
In Lincoln County, we will be offering a Summer Learning Camp for Students that are rising 1st-5th graders and a Summer Bridge Camp for rising 6th-8th graders. The summer camps will provide daily instruction in reading/language arts and mathematics plus activities in science/technology/the arts/physical education. Services include breakfast, lunch and transportation. The camps will run 8 AM to 3 PM four days per week. The state has set criteria for those eligible for the program. Additional information will be provided by your child's schools based on academic eligibility.

Mrs. Terri's Tips
TCAP Testing will begin on April st for grades 3-8. Please make every effort to have your child at school on time. School begins at 7:45, but students need to arrive sooner on testing days so teachers can be ready to begin at 8:00. There will be no checkouts (grades 3-8) during testing.
Please help your child have a better testing experience with the following suggestions:
- Make sure your child is well-rested.
- See that your child arrives on time and is relaxed.
- Encourage your child to do his/her best work.

Counselor's Corner
We are entering testing season in April and the dates will be posted on social media. I found some ways you can help your child at home to prepare during those two weeks:
Encourage your child to do well but don't pressure him/her. It is important for your child to stay relaxed for the test.
Keep a positive attitude about tests.
Mark down test days on your calendar so you and your child are both aware of testing dates.
Make sure your child gets enough sleep each night before the test.
Ensure that your child eats a healthy breakfast and avoid heavy foods that may make him/her groggy and avoid high sugar foods that may make him/her hyper.
Make sure that your child gets up early enough so that he/she will be on time to school.
Talking about the test with your child can relieve stress about test taking.
Praise/reward your child for their hard work preparing for a test.
