Middlebrook Wing Scholarship
We are excited to announce the launch of the first ever Middlebrook Wing Scholarship!
Our idea grew from the belief that all children spread their wings and will fly in many different directions. "We believe that no matter what your path in life, everyone grows into their unique self." The Wing Scholarship Fund has been established to support a Trumbull High School graduate who was promoted from 5th grade at Middlebrook Elementary School. The recipient of the scholarship will be chosen based on the following criteria: completion of the application process, a one (1) page essay to answer the question, “Where will your wings take you?,” and evidence through 2 recommendation letters that the candidate meets the required qualifications based on P.A.W.S. – Displays a Positive Attitude, Acts Responsibly, Works with heart and Shows respect. The scholarship committee will review all applications, select the best candidate, and then invite them to attend the fifth grade promotion ceremony to say a few inspiring words to our rising middle school students.
In order to raise funds for the scholarship, we are creating a fundraising calendar. Each day, during the month of March, participants will have the opportunity to win a donated prize. All donations, thus far, for our fundraising calendar have been solicited from multiple organizations. If you have a business or service you would like to add to our donation calendar, please contact Debbie Ponte (dponte@trumbullps.org) or Michele Molloy (mmolloy@trumbullps.org) so we can add even more exciting options as prizes. Some donations collected so far include: $200 gift card to Ecco, cash prizes, manicures, admission to Mystic Aquarium and much, much more!
Over the next few weeks, we will be asking our school community to sell our fundraising calendars for $10.00 each. We are hopeful that every Middlebrook student will be able to sell 2 calendars. They will receive these calendars to bring home on Monday, January 30, 2023 and all sales will close on Friday, February 24, 2023 . Only the bottom portion of the calendar, along with payment, should be sent to your child’s classroom teacher. The class with the highest sales record will earn an extra recess! Additional calendars are available in the main office should you wish to continue selling more!
Raffle winners will be announced daily via a video broadcast facilitated by Ms. Ponte and/or Ms. Molloy and posted to our school website. Additionally, emails or phone calls will be made as notifications to the winners.
Important Dates:
All donations must be received by Monday, January 23, 2023.
Calendars will be on sale from Monday, January 30, 2023 through Friday, February 24, 2023.
Drawings for prizes will begin Wednesday, March 1, 2023 and occur every school day until Friday, March 31, 2023.
Each drawing will be posted daily to our school website at https://middlebrookelementary.com/

Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest

Warm Clothing for Recess
Please be sure your child comes to school each day with a warm jacket or coat, hat, and gloves. We do try to get our students outside even in the cold weather so it is important that they are dressed properly so they can keep warm. Please remember to label as many items as possible so that lost items can be returned easily to students.
Best Regards,
Debbie Ponte and Michele Molloy
