How Parents Can Help Their Child Do Their Best on Schoolwork, Tests and the STAAR Test
The best thing you as a parent can do to help your child do his/her best in school, on tests, and on the STAAR tests is to provide positive support by expressing confidence in your child's ability to do their best. Let that be your expectation, as well. Children should know that test scores are important, but are not the measure of your love and acceptance of them. There is a 4-hour time limit on the STAAR test, but remind children to not rush; they simply need to work hard and use time wisely. On test days, try to provide a calm, stress-free environment each morning as your child gets ready for school. Get up in plenty of time to avoid rushing in the morning which may add anxiety. Curtail night-time extra-curricular activities and outings that may interfere with their regular bedtime routine the night before a test. Help teach and reinforce the following test-taking tips and strategies:
- Get Plenty of Rest Each Night
- Eat a Good Breakfast
- Have a Positive Attitude
- Relax. Don't Fret
- Try Hard. Do Your Best
- Listen Carefully and Follow Directions
- Think Before You Answer
- Read Directions and Questions Carefully
- Use your strategies, and
- Check Over Your Work When Finished

CFISD Transfer Information
- To submit a request in person, we ask that parents submit a transfer form, along with the required proof of address, at their student's current campus.
- Transfer forms, along with proof of address, may also be emailed by the parent to studenttransfers@cfisd.net.
- Transfer forms and supporting documents can also be delivered directly to the Office of Student Services.
- CFISD does not provide bus transportation for transfer students.
- Transfers students in grades nine through twelve generally are ineligible to participate in varsity athletics for one year from the first day of attendance at the requested campus.
- Student transfers are generally renewable as long as the student remains in the same transfer building.
- Students may rescind their transfer and return to their home campus at any time.
- If a student with an approved transfer is withdrawn from the requested campus, the transfer will not be in effect if the student re-enrolls in the district.
- Future transfers for siblings to attend the same requested campus are dependent on the open/closed status for a specific school year.
- A resident student who becomes a non-resident (moved out of the district) shall not be permitted to continue to attend the CFISD school for the remainder of the school year. A non-resident student shall be withdrawn and shall be required to enroll in the new district.
- Exception: A high school senior shall be permitted to continue to attend the CFISD school and pay tuition if the student has attended the high school in CFISD for the completion of their junior year for the previous school year; and the student's attendance, behavior and academic expectations have been met.
