State Wrestling
A word from Coach Ryan Ross
"What a week! Congratulations to the all 3 Boone boys for making it to the greatest State Wrestling Tournament in the USA! The hard work you’ve put in paid off.
Dylan Pestotnik with a crazy tough draw goes 0-2 dropping his matches against the eventual 3rd and 4th place finishers! You my friend have battled tons of adversity over your career but found a way to gut out all the pain and get yourself down to battle the toughest of the tough. Your desire to never quit is only going to lead to great things!
Ty Solverson finished up with a 5th place finish! Also a crazy tough draw with his 2 losses coming to the eventual State Champion and 3rd place finisher, also beating the 7th and 6th place finishers along the way. This was the Ty that we as coaches and teammates see everyday in the room. The middle weights for the state of Iowa better be ready cause this has only fueled this young man and I promise he’s coming for the state title!
Hector Garcia finished 5th as well! Again much the same with a crazy tough draw and losing his matches to the eventual Runner-up and 3rd place finisher. Also beating the 6th, 7th and 8th place finishers along the way. Hector Garcia is a handful and he showed it this weekend! Hector's response to me last night was now on to College Coach and time to earn All-American status! Wrestler mindset Hector, love it!"
Thank you!
Central Iowa Board of Realtors along with Nerem & Associates Real Estate & Insurance hosted a snack drive for elementary schools! Thank you so much for this generous donation!
The Boone Band Bandorama concert will be on Thursday, Feb. 24th at 7pm in the High School Gym. This concert will feature all bands in grade 5-12, concluding with an all-band performance. You will enjoy hearing a wide range of music from all levels of band students! The concert will be livestreamed on the Boone High Toreador Bands facebook page
Sarah Fisher and Brenna Vote, great job!
These students held our first fashion show in partnership with Modern Dress. There were so many learning opportunities in this project and they tackled each and every challenge and task with eagerness and a willingness to learn and grow. It went off without a hitch and it was amazing.
Thank you Modern Dress for the opportunity, guidance, resources. This is one of the coolest projects we’ve ever done. To the models and volunteers, thank you.
21st Century Rehab
Boone hosted 21st Century Rehab for our February medical careers club for students. Thanks to Jamie Rabe and Lisa Nerem for sharing the path to work in physical therapy. This is a very sought after career so their guidance was very inspiring and helpful to our Boone students.
21st Century is one of our best partners when it comes to hosting job shadows and interns. They’re currently hosting their 3rd EDGE intern. Big thanks to Lisa and Jamie for serving our students in multiple capacities!

The Hooper Scoopers are back for the 2021-2022 DMACC Men's Basketball Season!
Your defending National Champion DMACC Bears would like to invite all 2nd - 8th grade students to sign up for the chance to be a Ball Boy/Girl for the Men's Basketball Team. There will be an opportunity for 4 students to participate at each home game. Each participant will receive a t-shirt to wear during the game that they will get to keep. They will also receive free entry into the game along with 4 passes for family/friends to get into that same game. Please arrive at each game 20 minutes (times on sign up reflect this adjustment) before tip off to receive t-shirt and instructions. We will meet in the upstairs weight-room, above the gymnasium. Finally, a parent/guardian must be present with each participant.
Pease sign up early as we anticipate this being a popular opportunity, and space is limited! Limit two games per student per season. When signing up, please be sure to include the school, grade, and shirt size (Youth Medium - Adult Large) of the participant. Go Bears!!!
Take a look! Here are some pictures of what the new Boone Early Childhood Center will look like
YSS Mentoring Program - Update and Volunteer Opportunity!
The YSS Mentoring Program is looking forward to a return to in-person mentoring for the 2021-2022 school year! The program matches students in grades K-8th with a trained volunteer mentor once per week during the school day. These weekly meetings provide a positive, caring role model to eat lunch with, play games and simply talk about the student's interests and ideas.
Information and volunteer applications can be found at https://www.yss.org/program/mentoring.To learn how your child can become a participant, contact Tracy at boonementoring@yss.org or Heidi at hchopskie@yss.org.
Free School Breakfast and Lunch for all Students for the 2021-2022 school year
Tasty Toreador Meals - Supply Chain Issues
• This school year, thanks to federal pandemic waivers, all students will be eligible for free meals, regardless of family income.
• School meal programs nationwide are experiencing many of the same supply chain issues that have impacted restaurants and grocery stores throughout the pandemic.
• Our school nutrition team is committed to ensuring students continue to have access to healthy meals each school day.
• Just as families have to make substitutions on grocery lists, schools will have to make some last-minute changes to our regular menus, based on availability.
• We hope parents and students will be patient as we sort through these supply chain issues.
• We may not have the same menu choices that we typically offer our students, but we’ll be sure that all students are nourished and ready to learn.
*Reminder: For students bringing a sack lunch and wanting school milk, there will be a .50 cent charge per carton.

Athletics Registration
Toreador Families,
Our "Online Athletics Registration" is live and active for the 2021-22 School Year (link is below). Please take the time to read through the information, and fill out the forms for your student. All students involved in District-Sponsored Athletics in grades 7-12 will need a completed online athletics registration on file, along with a current physical form (physicals are valid for 13 months after the date of the physical). There is a place within the registration to upload the completed physical form.
Completion of the Registration/Physical is not required for the attendance at any summer camps that may be offered. However, the Athletics Registration and Physical Form must be completed and on file before a student may physically participate in practice this Fall. For High School, this starting date is Monday August 9th. Middle School practices will begin a couple weeks later near the first day of school.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns in this process.
