What can we do?
Should we be doing more as a country to improve teaching standards? Considering our kids are lagging behind other industrialized nations, its fairly obvious that things need to change. We need to look at other more successful countries and see what they are doing right that makes them so much better than ours. Should the educational standard for teachers be raised? Improved mandatory continuing education through the districts and on a personal basis. One uniform teaching standard for the entire country are some of the things to think about when to improve teaching in this country.
Finland
Finland does education so much better than the U.S. does at educating their kids and their teachers why are we not learning from their success? What are we afraid of? Finland begins by educating their teachers better and demanding more from them. You cannot build a solid house on a weak foundation. The Atlantic Article,

What is really wrong with America's educational system? Just about everything, The first thing that has to be changed our mentality of what education is and how we do it. What needs to be done In order to bring our system up the the level of the other countries that are doing it right? We have to ask ourselves are we going to stay in the 20th century and not admit our failings? or are we going to move into the 21st century and admit where we are going wrong so our students can finally be contenders in the global economy?
