Sandwich High School News
LAST UPDATE of 2021 (June)
Notes From the Principal
As we round out the year, I can say it has been an odd one that we do not hope to repeat. Our students rolled with the punches and did what was asked of them. We are still delivering curriculum and they continue to soak it in. We will impart as much as we can in the little time we have left with them. We are crazy excited about next year and getting back to as normal as we can.
FINALS: Finals are tricky this year. Teachers are rewriting exams for two reasons: 1) Finals need to cover what students learned this year and not what would have been covered if it was a regular year; and 2) Finals will not be worth 20% of the semester grade, they will be worth a regular test grade. We feel these changes are very fair to the students.
I have had some calls about taking finals early due to vacations. Because of the factors above, I do not have finals to give early; however, I will be here until July 1, allowing students to set up a time to make up their finals. You can work with the teachers to take a final early, but many of the teachers will not have exams written until they finish the curriculum. Be assured that if you are unable to complete your finals, you will be given an "I" (incomplete) and will get final grades in the fall, once your teachers have graded your make-up finals.
2021-2022 Student Schedules: We will be handing out students' schedules as soon as they are completed. We hope to have these done by Tuesday, June 8. Only students who are fully registered will receive a schedule.
I hope everyone has something fun planned for the summer. Please make good choices and stay safe so we can end the year strong and in-person.
Final Exams for Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors
CHROMEBOOK TURN-IN
All Sandwich District #430 students will be required to turn in their Chromebooks at the end of the school year. They will be stored for the summer and returned to the same students at the beginning of the next school year.
Students need to follow these steps on turn-in day:
1. Be sure to bring both the Chromebook and charger on the day of turn-in.
2. Be sure the Chromebook is charged.
3. Be ready to report any damage or problems with the Chromebook.
4. We cannot accept:
- A Chromebook with an asset tag (barcode) that is not correct. They will need to check with siblings, classmates, etc., to see if the correct Chromebook has merely switched hands.
A Chromebook without a charger -- unless the student has verified that the charger is lost -- can expect a $25 fee.
STUDENTS WILL RETURN THEIR CHROMEBOOKS AFTER THEIR LAST FINAL.
END-OF-THE-YEAR MEDICAL AND MEDICINE INFORMATION
MEDICINE PICK-UP:
Please be reminded that medication not picked up by the last day of school will be discarded. Medication must be picked up by a parent or guardian; other than emergency-type medication, students will not be allowed to take it home. The last day of school is June 9.
MEDICATION FORMS AND HEALTH CARE PLANS FOR THE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR:
The required school medication forms for the 2021-22 school year will be sent home prior to the last day of school. Keep in mind that medication, prescription or over the counter, cannot be given without a completed school medication authorization form on file at school. Also, health care plans (asthma, food allergy, etc.) should be updated for the 2021-22 school year. If you have questions, you may contact the School Nurse. For your convenience, medication forms can also be found on the district website.

send your final transcript. Official grades will be posted and transcripts
processed by June 1. If you need additional transcripts sent, please
request them through your Parchment account (www.parchment.com). If
you would like a copy of your transcript for yourself, you can also order this
through Parchment. Transcripts will not be sent through other means unless
your college, university or other organization will not accept Parchment

2021-22 Schedules: Our goal is to have student schedules set before the end
of the school year. If a semester elective would not fit, a suitable similar
elective will be chosen to fill the student’s schedule. Students who have
completed their school registration for 2021-22 will be handed a copy, if
requested.
College Board: If you are interested in retaking your SAT, log into your College
Board account to register - www.collegeboard.org. You’ll choose your
testing location and pay your fee with a credit card. Once your new scores
are available, we will receive a copy to add to your transcript.
Khan Academy: Khan Academy has FREE, unlimited SAT practice available at
www.khanacademy.org. This is a great way to work on your test-taking skills
over the summer!

SOCCER CAMP
From Coach Kozan
Thank you to the ‘20-‘21 seniors for paving the way of what Sandwich pride really means when you step onto the court. The seniors showed the underclassmen what it means to put all selfishness aside and played for each other as well as the school and community of Sandwich.
Congratulations to our captains Cade Miller and Ian Kelson, as well as our Conference Honorable Mention player Jacob Heilemeier.
